7:1Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of Jehovah filled the house. 7:2And the priests could not enter into the house of Jehovah, because the glory of Jehovah filled Jehovah's house. 7:3And all the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the glory of Jehovah was upon the house; and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and gave thanks unto Jehovah, saying, For he is good; for his lovingkindness endureth for ever. 7:4Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before Jehovah. 7:5And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. 7:6And the priests stood, according to their offices; the Levites also with instruments of music of Jehovah, which David the king had made to give thanks unto Jehovah, (for his lovingkindness endureth for ever,) when David praised by their ministry: and the priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood. 7:7Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt-offering, and the meal-offering, and the fat. 7:8So Solomon held the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt. 7:9And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days. 7:10And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away unto their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that Jehovah had showed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people. 7:11Thus Solomon finished the house of Jehovah, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of Jehovah, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. 7:12And Jehovah appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice. 7:13If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 7:14if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 7:15Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place. 7:16For now have I chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually. 7:17And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances; 7:18then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel. 7:19But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; 7:20then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 7:21And this house, which is so high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall say, Why hath Jehovah done thus unto this land, and to this house? 7:22And they shall answer, Because they forsook Jehovah, the God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
1:1The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all they that know the truth; 1:2for the truth's sake which abideth in us, and it shall be with us for ever: 1:3Grace, mercy, peace shall be with us, from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 1:4I rejoice greatly that I have found certain of thy children walking in truth, even as we received commandment from the Father. 1:5And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote to thee a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 1:6And this is love, that we should walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, even as ye heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it. 1:7For many deceivers are gone forth into the world, even they that confess not that Jesus Christ cometh in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. 1:8Look to yourselves, that ye lose not the things which we have wrought, but that ye receive a full reward. 1:9Whosoever goeth onward and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God: he that abideth in the teaching, the same hath both the Father and the Son. 1:10If any one cometh unto you, and bringeth not this teaching, receive him not into your house, and give him no greeting: 1:11for he that giveth him greeting partaketh in his evil works. 1:12Having many things to write unto you, I would not write them with paper and ink: but I hope to come unto you, and to speak face to face, that your joy may be made full. 1:13The children of thine elect sister salute thee.
2:1I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look forth to see what he will speak with me, and what I shall answer concerning my complaint. 2:2And Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it. 2:3For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hasteth toward the end, and shall not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay. 2:4Behold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright in him; but the righteous shall live by his faith. 2:5Yea, moreover, wine is treacherous, a haughty man, that keepeth not at home; who enlargeth his desire as Sheol, and he is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all peoples. 2:6Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and that ladeth himself with pledges! 2:7Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booty unto them? 2:8Because thou hast plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder thee, because of men's blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein. 2:9Woe to him that getteth an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil! 2:10Thou hast devised shame to thy house, by cutting off many peoples, and hast sinned against thy soul. 2:11For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. 2:12Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and establisheth a city by iniquity! 2:13Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity? 2:14For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea. 2:15Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink, to thee that addest thy venom, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! 2:16Thou art filled with shame, and not glory: drink thou also, and be as one uncircumcised; the cup of Jehovah's right hand shall come round unto thee, and foul shame shall be upon thy glory. 2:17For the violence done to Lebanon shall cover thee, and the destruction of the beasts, which made them afraid; because of men's blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all that dwell therein. 2:18What profiteth the graven image, that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, even the teacher of lies, that he that fashioneth its form trusteth therein, to make dumb idols? 2:19Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it. 2:20But Jehovah is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
21:1And he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury. 21:2And he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. 21:3And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all: 21:4for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had. 21:5And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and offerings, he said, 21:6As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 21:7And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when these things are about to come to pass? 21:8And he said, Take heed that ye be not led astray: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he; and, The time is at hand: go ye not after them. 21:9And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified: for these things must needs come to pass first; but the end is not immediately. 21:10Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 21:11and there shall be great earthquakes, and in divers places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven. 21:12But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name's sake. 21:13It shall turn out unto you for a testimony. 21:14Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer: 21:15for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay. 21:16But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 21:17And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 21:18And not a hair of your head shall perish. 21:19In your patience ye shall win your souls. 21:20But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand. 21:21Then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains; and let them that are in the midst of her depart out; and let not them that are in the country enter therein. 21:22For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 21:23Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people. 21:24And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. 21:25And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows; 21:26men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. 21:27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 21:28But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh. 21:29And he spake to them a parable: Behold the fig tree, and all the trees: 21:30when they now shoot forth, ye see it and know of your own selves that the summer is now nigh. 21:31Even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh. 21:32Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished. 21:33Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. 21:34But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare: 21:35for so shall it come upon all them that dwell on the face of all the earth. 21:36But watch ye at every season, making supplication, that ye may prevail to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. 21:37And every day he was teaching in the temple; and every night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called Olivet. 21:38And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.
