Exodus

1:1Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt (every man and his household came with Jacob): 1:2Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, 1:3Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, 1:4Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. 1:5And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: and Joseph was in Egypt already. 1:6And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation. 1:7And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

1:8Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who knew not Joseph. 1:9And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: 1:10come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they also join themselves unto our enemies, and fight against us, and get them up out of the land. 1:11Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh store-cities, Pithom and Raamses. 1:12But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread abroad. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. 1:13And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigor: 1:14and they made their lives bitter with hard service, in mortar and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field, all their service, wherein they made them serve with rigor.

1:15And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: 1:16and he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the birth-stool; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him; but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. 1:17But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men-children alive. 1:18And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men-children alive? 1:19And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwife come unto them. 1:20And God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. 1:21And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them households. 1:22And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

Luke

4:1And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led in the Spirit in the wilderness 4:2during forty days, being tempted of the devil. And he did eat nothing in those days: and when they were completed, he hungered. 4:3And the devil said unto him, if thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it become bread. 4:4And Jesus answered unto him, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone. 4:5And he led him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 4:6And the devil said unto him, To thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them: for it hath been delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 4:7If thou therefore wilt worship before me, it shall all be thine. 4:8And Jesus answered and said unto him, It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 4:9And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 4:10for it is written,

He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to guard thee:

4:11and,

On their hands they shall bear thee up,

Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.

4:12And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

4:13And when the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him for a season.

4:14And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and a fame went out concerning him through all the region round about. 4:15And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

4:16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and he entered, as his custom was, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read. 4:17And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And he opened the book, and found the place where it was written,

4:18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor:

He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives,

And recovering of sight to the blind,

To set at liberty them that are bruised,

4:19To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

4:20And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him. 4:21And he began to say unto them, To-day hath this scripture been fulfilled in your ears. 4:22And all bare him witness, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth: and they said, Is not this Joseph's son? 4:23And he said unto them, Doubtless ye will say unto me this parable, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in thine own country. 4:24And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is acceptable in his own country. 4:25But of a truth I say unto you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land; 4:26and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. 4:27And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian. 4:28And they were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things; 4:29and they rose up, and cast him forth out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong. 4:30But he passing through the midst of them went his way. 4:31And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the sabbath day: 4:32and they were astonished at his teaching; for his word was with authority. 4:33And in the synagogue there was a man, that had a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice, 4:34Ah! what have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Nazarene? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 4:35And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no hurt. 4:36And amazement came upon all, and they spake together, one with another, saying, What is this word? for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. 4:37And there went forth a rumor concerning him into every place of the region round about. 4:38And he rose up from the synagogue, and entered into the house of Simon. And Simon's wife's mother was holden with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 4:39And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she rose up and ministered unto them. 4:40And when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. 4:41And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ. 4:42And when it was day, he came out and went into a desert place: and the multitudes sought after him, and came unto him, and would have stayed him, that he should not go from them. 4:43But he said unto them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore was I sent. 4:44And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

Job

18:1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

18:2How long will ye hunt for words?

Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

18:3Wherefore are we counted as beasts,

And are become unclean in your sight?

18:4Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger,

Shall the earth be forsaken for thee?

Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?

18:5Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out,

And the spark of his fire shall not shine.

18:6The light shall be dark in his tent,

And his lamp above him shall be put out.

18:7The steps of his strength shall be straitened,

And his own counsel shall cast him down.

18:8For he is cast into a net by his own feet,

And he walketh upon the toils.

18:9A gin shall take him by the heel,

And a snare shall lay hold on him.

18:10A noose is hid for him in the ground,

And a trap for him in the way.

18:11Terrors shall make him afraid on every side,

And shall chase him at his heels.

 18:12His strength shall be hunger-bitten,

And calamity shall be ready at his side.

18:13The members of his body shall be devoured,

Yea, the first-born of death shall devour his members.

 18:14He shall be rooted out of his tent where he trusteth;

And he shall be brought to the king of terrors.

18:15There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his:

Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

18:16His roots shall be dried up beneath,

And above shall his branch be cut off.

18:17His remembrance shall perish from the earth,

And he shall have no name in the street.

18:18He shall be driven from light into darkness,

And chased out of the world.

18:19He shall have neither son nor son's son among his people,

Nor any remaining where he sojourned.

18:20They that come after shall be astonished at his day,

As they that went before were affrighted.

18:21Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous,

And this is the place of him that knoweth not God.

1 Corinthians

5:1It is actually reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even among the Gentiles, that one of you hath his father's wife. 5:2And ye are puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he that had done this deed might be taken away from among you. 5:3For I verily, being absent in body but present in spirit, have already as though I were present judged him that hath so wrought this thing, 5:4in the name of our Lord Jesus, ye being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, 5:5to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 5:6Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 5:7Purge out the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, even as ye are unleavened. For our passover also hath been sacrificed, even Christ: 5:8wherefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 5:9I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators; 5:10not at all meaning with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world: 5:11but as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat. 5:12For what have I to do with judging them that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within? 5:13But them that are without God judgeth. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.
