Exodus

2:1And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi. 2:2And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. 2:3And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch; and she put the child therein, and laid it in the flags by the river's brink. 2:4And his sister stood afar off, to know what would be done to him. 2:5And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river-side; and she saw the ark among the flags, and sent her handmaid to fetch it. 2:6And she opened it, and saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children. 2:7Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee? 2:8And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maiden went and called the child's mother. 2:9And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it. 2:10And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses, and said, Because I drew him out of the water.

2:11And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown up, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he saw an Egyptian smiting a Hebrew, one of his brethren. 2:12And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he smote the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand. 2:13And he went out the second day, and, behold, two men of the Hebrews were striving together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow? 2:14And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? Thinkest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely the thing is known. 2:15Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.

2:16Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock. 2:17And the shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock. 2:18And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to-day? 2:19And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover he drew water for us, and watered the flock. 2:20And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? Why is it that ye have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread. 2:21And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter. 2:22And she bare a son, and he called his name Gershom; for he said, I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.

2:23And it came to pass in the course of those many days, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. 2:24And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 2:25And God saw the children of Israel, and God took knowledge of them.

 

Luke

5:1Now it came to pass, while the multitude pressed upon him and heard the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret; 5:2and he saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 5:3And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the multitudes out of the boat. 5:4And when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5:5And Simon answered and said, Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing: but at thy word I will let down the nets. 5:6And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes; and their nets were breaking; 5:7and they beckoned unto their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 5:8But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. 5:9For he was amazed, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken; 5:10and so were also James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 5:11And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all, and followed him. 5:12And it came to pass, while he was in one of the cities, behold, a man full of leprosy: and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 5:13And he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou made clean. And straightway the leprosy departed from him. 5:14And he charged him to tell no man: but go thy way, and show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 5:15But so much the more went abroad the report concerning him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed of their infirmities. 5:16But he withdrew himself in the deserts, and prayed. 5:17And it came to pass on one of those days, that he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was with him to heal. 5:18And behold, men bring on a bed a man that was palsied: and they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before him. 5:19And not finding by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his couch into the midst before Jesus. 5:20And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. 5:21And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 5:22But Jesus perceiving their reasonings, answered and said unto them, Why reason ye in your hearts? 5:23Which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk? 5:24But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (he said unto him that was palsied), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go unto thy house. 5:25And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his house, glorifying God. 5:26And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day. 5:27And after these things he went forth, and beheld a publican, named Levi, sitting at the place of toll, and said unto him, Follow me. 5:28And he forsook all, and rose up and followed him. 5:29And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them. 5:30And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners? 5:31And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are in health have no need of a physician; but they that are sick. 5:32I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. 5:33And they said unto him, The disciples of John fast often, and make supplications; likewise also the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink. 5:34And Jesus said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? 5:35But the days will come; and when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then will they fast in those days. 5:36And he spake also a parable unto them: No man rendeth a piece from a new garment and putteth it upon an old garment; else he will rend the new, and also the piece from the new will not agree with the old. 5:37And no man putteth new wine into old wine-skins; else the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be spilled, and the skins will perish. 5:38But new wine must be put into fresh wine-skins. 5:39And no man having drunk old wine desireth new; for he saith, The old is good.

 

Job

 

19:1Then Job answered and said,

 19:2How long will ye vex my soul,

 And break me in pieces with words?

 19:3These ten times have ye reproached me:

 Ye are not ashamed that ye deal hardly with me.

 19:4And be it indeed that I have erred,

 Mine error remaineth with myself.

 19:5If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me,

 And plead against me my reproach;

 19:6Know now that God hath subverted me in my cause,

 And hath compassed me with his net.

 

 19:7Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard:

 I cry for help, but there is no justice.

 19:8He hath walled up my way that I cannot pass,

 And hath set darkness in my paths.

 19:9He hath stripped me of my glory,

 And taken the crown from my head.

 19:10He hath broken me down on every side, and I am gone;

 And my hope hath he plucked up like a tree.

 19:11He hath also kindled his wrath against me,

 And he counteth me unto him as one of his adversaries.

 19:12His troops come on together,

 And cast up their way against me,

 And encamp round about my tent.

 19:13He hath put my brethren far from me,

 And mine acquaintance are wholly estranged from me.

 19:14My kinsfolk have failed,

 And my familiar friends have forgotten me.

 19:15They that dwell in my house, and my maids, count me for a stranger;

 I am an alien in their sight.

 19:16I call unto my servant, and he giveth me no answer,

 Though I entreat him with my mouth.

 19:17My breath is strange to my wife,

 And my supplication to the children of mine own mother.

 19:18Even young children despise me;

 If I arise, they speak against me.

 19:19All my familiar friends abhor me,

 And they whom I loved are turned against me.

 19:20My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh,

 And I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

 19:21Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends;

 For the hand of God hath touched me.

 19:22Why do ye persecute me as God,

 And are not satisfied with my flesh?

 

 19:23Oh that my words were now written!

 Oh that they were inscribed in a book!

 19:24That with an iron pen and lead

 They were graven in the rock for ever!

 19:25But as for me I know that my Redeemer liveth,

 And at last he will stand up upon the earth:

 19:26And after my skin, even this body, is destroyed,

 Then without my flesh shall I see God;

 19:27Whom I, even I, shall see, on my side,

 And mine eyes shall behold, and not as a stranger.

 My heart is consumed within me.

 19:28If ye say, How we will persecute him!

 And that the root of the matter is found in me;

 19:29Be ye afraid of the sword:

 For wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword,

 That ye may know there is a judgment.

 

 

1 Corinthians

 

6:1Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? 6:2Or know ye not that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 6:3Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more, things that pertain to this life? 6:4If then ye have to judge things pertaining to this life, do ye set them to judge who are of no account in the church? 6:5I say this to move you to shame. What, cannot there be found among you one wise man who shall be able to decide between his brethren, 6:6but brother goeth to law with brother, and that before unbelievers? 6:7Nay, already it is altogether a defect in you, that ye have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather take wrong? why not rather be defrauded? 6:8Nay, but ye yourselves do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. 6:9Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, 6:10nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 6:11And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God. 6:12All things are lawful for me; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the power of any. 6:13Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall bring to nought both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body: 6:14and God both raised the Lord, and will raise up as through his power. 6:15Know ye not that your bodies are members of Christ? shall I then take away the members of Christ, and make them members of a harlot? God forbid. 6:16Or know ye not that he that is joined to a harlot is one body? for, The twain, saith he, shall become one flesh. 6:17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 6:18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 6:19Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own; 6:20for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.
