4:1And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice; for they will say, Jehovah hath not appeared unto thee. 4:2And Jehovah said unto him, What is that in thy hand? And he said, A rod. 4:3And he said, Cast in on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. 4:4And Jehovah said unto Moses, Put forth thy hand, and take it by the tail: (and he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand:) 4:5That they may believe that Jehovah, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee. 4:6And Jehovah said furthermore unto him, Put now thy hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow. 4:7And he said, Put thy hand into thy bosom again. (And he put his hand into his bosom again; and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.) 4:8And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. 4:9And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe even these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
4:10And Moses said unto Jehovah, Oh, Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. 4:11And Jehovah said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? Or who maketh a man dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, Jehovah? 4:12Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak. 4:13And he said, Oh, Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. 4:14And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is there not Aaron thy brother the Levite? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. 4:15And thou shalt speak unto him, and put the words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. 4:16And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people; and it shall come to pass, that he shall be to thee a mouth, and thou shalt be to him as God. 4:17And thou shalt take in thy hand this rod, wherewith thou shalt do the signs. 4:18And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren that are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace. 4:19And Jehovah said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt; for all the men are dead that sought thy life. 4:20And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand. 4:21And Jehovah said unto Moses, When thou goest back into Egypt, see that thou do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in thy hand: but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go. 4:22And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith Jehovah, Israel is my son, my first-born: 4:23and I have said unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me; and thou hast refused to let him go: behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born. 4:24And it came to pass on the way at the lodging-place, that Jehovah met him, and sought to kill him. 4:25Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, Surely a bridegroom of blood art thou to me. 4:26So he let him alone. Then she said, A bridegroom of blood art thou, because of the circumcision.
4:27And Jehovah said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mountain of God, and kissed him. 4:28And Moses told Aaron all the words of Jehovah wherewith he had sent him, and all the signs wherewith he had charged him. 4:29And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel: 4:30and Aaron spake all the words which Jehovah had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people. 4:31And the people believed: and when they heard that Jehovah had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
7:1After he had ended all his sayings in the ears of the people, he entered into Capernaum. 7:2And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick and at the point of death. 7:3And when he heard concerning Jesus, he sent unto him elders of the Jews, asking him that he would come and save his servant. 7:4And they, when they came to Jesus, besought him earnestly, saying, He is worthy that thou shouldest do this for him; 7:5for he loveth our nation, and himself built us our synagogue. 7:6And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: 7:7wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say the word, and my servant shall be healed. 7:8For I also am a man set under authority, having under myself soldiers: and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 7:9And when Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned and said unto the multitude that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 7:10And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole. 7:11And it came to pass soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain; and his disciples went with him, and a great multitude. 7:12Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, there was carried out one that was dead, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 7:13And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 7:14And he came nigh and touched the bier: and the bearers stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 7:15And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother. 7:16And fear took hold on all: and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet is arisen among us: and, God hath visited his people. 7:17And this report went forth concerning him in the whole of Judaea, and all the region round about. 7:18And the disciples of John told him of all these things. 7:19And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to the Lord, saying, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another? 7:20And when the men were come unto him, they said, John the Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another? 7:21In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and on many that were blind he bestowed sight. 7:22And he answered and said unto them, Go and tell John the things which ye have seen and heard; the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good tidings preached to them. 7:23And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me. 7:24And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind? 7:25But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. 7:26But what went ye out to see? a prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. 7:27This is he of whom it is written,
Behold, I send my messenger before thy face,
Who shall prepare thy way before thee.
7:28I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there is none greater than John: yet he that is but little in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 7:29And all the people when they heard, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 7:30But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected for themselves the counsel of God, being not baptized of him. 7:31Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation, and to what are they like? 7:32They are like unto children that sit in the marketplace, and call one to another; who say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not weep. 7:33For John the Baptist is come eating no bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon. 7:34The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! 7:35And wisdom is justified of all her children. 7:36And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he entered into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 7:37And behold, a woman who was in the city, a sinner; and when she knew that he was sitting at meat in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster cruse of ointment, 7:38and standing behind at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. 7:39Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner. 7:40And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Teacher, say on. 7:41A certain lender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred shillings, and the other fifty. 7:42When they had not wherewith to pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most? 7:43Simon answered and said, He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. 7:44And turning to the woman, he said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath wetted my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair. 7:45Thou gavest me no kiss: but she, since the time I came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet. 7:46My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but she hath anointed my feet with ointment. 7:47Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. 7:48And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 7:49And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins? 7:50And he said unto the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
21:1Then Job answered and said,
21:2Hear diligently my speech;
And let this be your consolations.
21:3Suffer me, and I also will speak;
And after that I have spoken, mock on.
21:4As for me, is my complaint to man?
And why should I not be impatient?
21:5Mark me, and be astonished,
And lay your hand upon your mouth.
21:6Even when I remember I am troubled,
And horror taketh hold on my flesh.
21:7Wherefore do the wicked live,
Become old, yea, wax mighty in power?
21:8Their seed is established with them in their sight,
And their offspring before their eyes.
21:9Their houses are safe from fear,
Neither is the rod of God upon them.
21:10Their bull gendereth, and faileth not;
Their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
21:11They send forth their little ones like a flock,
And their children dance.
21:12They sing to the timbrel and harp,
And rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
21:13They spend their days in prosperity,
And in a moment they go down to Sheol.
21:14And they say unto God, Depart from us;
For we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
21:15What is the Almighty, that we should serve him?
And what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?
21:16Lo, their prosperity is not in their hand:
The counsel of the wicked is far from me.
21:17How oft is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out?
That their calamity cometh upon them?
That God distributeth sorrows in his anger?
21:18That they are as stubble before the wind,
And as chaff that the storm carrieth away?
21:19Ye say, God layeth up his iniquity for his children.
Let him recompense it unto himself, that he may know it:
21:20Let his own eyes see his destruction,
And let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
21:21For what careth he for his house after him,
When the number of his months is cut off?
21:22Shall any teach God knowledge,
Seeing he judgeth those that are high?
21:23One dieth in his full strength,
Being wholly at ease and quiet:
21:24His pails are full of milk,
And the marrow of his bones is moistened.
21:25And another dieth in bitterness of soul,
And never tasteth of good.
21:26They lie down alike in the dust,
And the worm covereth them.
21:27Behold, I know your thoughts,
And the devices wherewith ye would wrong me.
21:28For ye say, Where is the house of the prince?
And where is the tent wherein the wicked dwelt?
21:29Have ye not asked wayfaring men?
And do ye not know their evidences,
21:30That the evil man is reserved to the day of calamity?
That they are led forth to the day of wrath?
21:31Who shall declare his way to his face?
And who shall repay him what he hath done?
21:32Yet shall he be borne to the grave,
And men shall keep watch over the tomb.
21:33The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him,
And all men shall draw after him,
As there were innumerable before him.
21:34How then comfort ye me in vain,
Seeing in your answers there remaineth only falsehood?
8:1Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth. 8:2If any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not yet as he ought to know; 8:3but if any man loveth God, the same is known by him. 8:4Concerning therefore the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no God but one. 8:5For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many; 8:6yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him. 8:7Howbeit there is not in all men that knowledge: but some, being used until now to the idol, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. 8:8But food will not commend us to God: neither, if we eat not, are we the worse; nor, if we eat, are we the better. 8:9But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to the weak. 8:10For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols? 8:11For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died. 8:12And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ. 8:13Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.
