Exodus

5:1And afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said unto Pharaoh, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. 5:2And Pharaoh said, Who is Jehovah, that I should hearken unto his voice to let Israel go? I know not Jehovah, and moreover I will not let Israel go. 5:3And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice unto Jehovah our God, lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword. 5:4And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, loose the people from their works? get you unto your burdens. 5:5And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land are now many, and ye make them rest from their burdens. 5:6And the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying, 5:7Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves. 5:8And the number of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish aught thereof: for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God. 5:9Let heavier work be laid upon the men, that they may labor therein; and let them not regard lying words.

5:10And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw. 5:11Go yourselves, get you straw where ye can find it: for nought of your work shall be diminished. 5:12So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw. 5:13And the taskmasters were urgent saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw. 5:14And the officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task both yesterday and to-day, in making brick as heretofore?

5:15Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants? 5:16There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault it in thine own people. 5:17But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and sacrifice to Jehovah. 5:18Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the number of bricks. 5:19And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, when it was said, Ye shall not diminish aught from your bricks, your daily tasks. 5:20And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh: 5:21and they said unto them, Jehovah look upon you, and judge: because ye have made our savor to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.

5:22And Moses returned unto Jehovah, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou dealt ill with this people? why is it that thou hast sent me? 5:23For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath dealt ill with this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.

Luke

8:1And it came to pass soon afterwards, that he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good tidings of the kingdom of God, and with him the twelve, 8:2and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary that was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 8:3and Joanna the wife of Chuzas Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered unto them of their substance. 8:4And when a great multitude came together, and they of every city resorted unto him, he spake by a parable: 8:5The sower went forth to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden under foot, and the birds of the heaven devoured it. 8:6And other fell on the rock; and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 8:7And other fell amidst the thorns; and the thorns grew with it, and choked it. 8:8And other fell into the good ground, and grew, and brought forth fruit a hundredfold. As he said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 8:9And his disciples asked him what this parable might be. 8:10And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to the rest in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand. 8:11Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 8:12And those by the way side are they that have heard; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. 8:13And those on the rock are they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 8:14And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 8:15And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience. 8:16And no man, when he hath lighted a lamp, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but putteth it on a stand, that they that enter in may see the light. 8:17For nothing is hid, that shall not be made manifest; nor anything secret, that shall not be known and come to light. 8:18Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he thinketh he hath. 8:19And there came to him his mother and brethren, and they could not come at him for the crowd. 8:20And it was told him, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. 8:21But he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these that hear the word of God, and do it. 8:22Now it came to pass on one of those days, that he entered into a boat, himself and his disciples; and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake: and they launched forth. 8:23But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. 8:24And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. And he awoke, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. 8:25And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And being afraid they marvelled, saying one to another, Who then is this, that he commandeth even the winds and the water, and they obey him? 8:26And they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is over against Galilee. 8:27And when he was come forth upon the land, there met him a certain man out of the city, who had demons; and for a long time he had worn no clothes, and abode not in any house, but in the tombs. 8:28And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee, torment me not. 8:29For he was commanding the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For oftentimes it had seized him: and he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters; and breaking the bands asunder, he was driven of the demon into the deserts. 8:30And Jesus asked him, What is thy name? And he said, Legion; for many demons were entered into him. 8:31And they entreated him that he would not command them to depart into the abyss. 8:32Now there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they entreated him that he would give them leave to enter into them. And he gave them leave. 8:33And the demons came out from the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, and were drowned. 8:34And when they that fed them saw what had come to pass, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country. 8:35And they went out to see what had come to pass; and they came to Jesus, and found the man, from whom the demons were gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus: and they were afraid. 8:36And they that saw it told them how he that was possessed with demons was made whole. 8:37And all the people of the country of the Gerasenes round about asked him to depart from them, for they were holden with great fear: and he entered into a boat, and returned. 8:38But the man from whom the demons were gone out prayed him that he might be with him: but he sent him away, saying, 8:39Return to thy house, and declare how great things God hath done for thee. And he went his way, publishing throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done for him. 8:40And as Jesus returned, the multitude welcomed him; for they were all waiting for him. 8:41And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him to come into his house; 8:42for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went the multitudes thronged him. 8:43And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed of any, 8:44came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately the issue of her blood stanched. 8:45And Jesus said, Who is it that touched me? And when all denied, Peter said, and they that were with him, Master, the multitudes press thee and crush thee. 8:46But Jesus said, Some one did touch me; for I perceived that power had gone forth from me. 8:47And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people for what cause she touched him, and how she was healed immediately. 8:48And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. 8:49While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Teacher. 8:50But Jesus hearing it, answered him, Fear not: only believe, and she shall be made whole. 8:51And when he came to the house, he suffered not any man to enter in with him, save Peter, and John, and James, and the father of the maiden and her mother. 8:52And all were weeping, and bewailing her: but he said, Weep not; for she is not dead, but sleepeth. 8:53And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 8:54But he, taking her by the hand, called, saying, Maiden, arise. 8:55And her spirit returned, and she rose up immediately: and he commanded that something be given her to eat. 8:56And her parents were amazed: but he charged them to tell no man what had been done.

Job

22:1Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,

 22:2Can a man be profitable unto God?

 Surely he that is wise is profitable unto himself.

 22:3Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous?

 Or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?

 22:4Is it for thy fear of him that he reproveth thee,

 That he entereth with thee into judgment?

 22:5Is not thy wickedness great?

 Neither is there any end to thine iniquities.

 22:6For thou hast taken pledges of thy brother for nought,

 And stripped the naked of their clothing.

 22:7Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink,

 And thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

 22:8But as for the mighty man, he had the earth;

 And the honorable man, he dwelt in it.

 22:9Thou hast sent widows away empty,

 And the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

 22:10Therefore snares are round about thee,

 And sudden fear troubleth thee,

 22:11Or darkness, so that thou canst not see,

 And abundance of waters cover thee.

 22:12Is not God in the height of heaven?

 And behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

 22:13And thou sayest, What doth God know?

 Can he judge through the thick darkness?

 22:14Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he seeth not;

 And he walketh on the vault of heaven.

 22:15Wilt thou keep the old way

 Which wicked men have trodden?

 22:16Who were snatched away before their time,

 Whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

 22:17Who said unto God, Depart from us;

 And, What can the Almighty do for us?

 22:18Yet he filled their houses with good things:

 But the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

 22:19The righteous see it, and are glad;

 And the innocent laugh them to scorn,

 22:20Saying, Surely they that did rise up against us are cut off,

 And the remnant of them the fire hath consumed.

 22:21Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace:

 Thereby good shall come unto thee.

 22:22Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth,

 And lay up his words in thy heart.

 22:23If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up,

 If thou put away unrighteousness far from thy tents.

 22:24And lay thou thy treasure in the dust,

 And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks;

 22:25And the Almighty will be thy treasure,

 And precious silver unto thee.

 22:26For then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty,

 And shalt lift up thy face unto God.

 22:27Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee;

 And thou shalt pay thy vows.

 22:28Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee;

 And light shall shine upon thy ways.

 22:29When they cast thee down, thou shalt say, There is lifting up;

 And the humble person he will save.

 22:30He will deliver even him that is not innocent:

 Yea, he shall be delivered through the cleanness of thy hands.

1 Corinthians

9:1Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are not ye my work in the Lord? 9:2If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. 9:3My defence to them that examine me is this. 9:4Have we no right to eat and to drink? 9:5Have we no right to lead about a wife that is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? 9:6Or I only and Barnabas, have we not a right to forbear working? 9:7What soldier ever serveth at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not the fruit thereof? Or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? 9:8Do I speak these things after the manner of men? or saith not the law also the same? 9:9For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. Is it for the oxen that God careth, 9:10or saith he it assuredly for our sake? Yea, for our sake it was written: because he that ploweth ought to plow in hope, and he that thresheth, to thresh in hope of partaking. 9:11If we sowed unto you spiritual things, is it a great matter if we shall reap your carnal things? 9:12If others partake of this right over you, do not we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right; but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ. 9:13Know ye not that they that minister about sacred things eat of the things of the temple, and they that wait upon the altar have their portion with the altar? 9:14Even so did the Lord ordain that they that proclaim the gospel should live of the gospel. 9:15But I have used none of these things: and I write not these things that it may be so done in my case; for it were good for me rather to die, than that any man should make my glorifying void. 9:16For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; for woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel. 9:17For if I do this of mine own will, I have a reward: but if not of mine own will, I have a stewardship intrusted to me. 9:18What then is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, so as not to use to the full my right in the gospel. 9:19For though I was free from all men, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more. 9:20And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, not being myself under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; 9:21to them that are without law, as without law, not being without law to God, but under law to Christ, that I might gain them that are without law. 9:22To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak: I am become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some. 9:23And I do all things for the gospel's sake, that I may be a joint partaker thereof. 9:24Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. 9:25And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 9:26I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: 9:27but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
