10:1And Jehovah said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I may show these my signs in the midst of them, 10:2and that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought upon Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know that I am Jehovah. 10:3And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me. 10:4Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to-morrow will I bring locusts into thy border: 10:5and they shall cover the face of the earth, so that one shall not be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field: 10:6and thy houses shall be filled, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; as neither thy fathers nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned, and went out from Pharaoh. 10:7And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve Jehovah their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed? 10:8And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve Jehovah your God; but who are they that shall go? 10:9And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old; with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto Jehovah. 10:10And he said unto them, So be Jehovah with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you. 10:11Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve Jehovah; for that is what ye desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.
10:12And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left. 10:13And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and Jehovah brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all the night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. 10:14And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt; very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such. 10:15For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing, either tree or herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt. 10:16Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against Jehovah your God, and against you. 10:17Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and entreat Jehovah your God, that he may take away from me this death only. 10:18And he went out from Pharaoh, and entreated Jehovah. 10:19And Jehovah turned an exceeding strong west wind, which took up the locusts, and drove them into the Red Sea; there remained not one locust in all the border of Egypt. 10:20But Jehovah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go.
10:21And Jehovah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. 10:22And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days; 10:23they saw not one another, neither rose any one from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. 10:24And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve Jehovah; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you. 10:25And Moses said, Thou must also give into our hand sacrifices and burnt-offerings, that we may sacrifice unto Jehovah our God. 10:26Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not a hoof be left behind: for thereof must we take to serve Jehovah our God; and we know not with what we must serve Jehovah, until we come thither. 10:27But Jehovah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go. 10:28And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in the day thou seest my face thou shalt die. 10:29And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well. I will see thy face again no more.
13:1Now there were some present at that very season who told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 13:2And he answered and said unto them, Think ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they have suffered these things? 13:3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish. 13:4Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them, think ye that they were offenders above all the men that dwell in Jerusalem? 13:5I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 13:6And he spake this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit thereon, and found none. 13:7And he said unto the vinedresser, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why doth it also cumber the ground? 13:8And he answering saith unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 13:9and if it bear fruit thenceforth, well; but if not, thou shalt cut it down. 13:10And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath day. 13:11And behold, a woman that had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years; and she was bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself up. 13:12And when Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 13:13And he laid his hands upon her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. 13:14And the ruler of the synagogue, being moved with indignation because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, answered and said to the multitude, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the day of the sabbath. 13:15But the Lord answered him, and said, Ye hypocrites, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 13:16And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, lo, these eighteen years, to have been loosed from this bond on the day of the sabbath? 13:17And as he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame: and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. 13:18He said therefore, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I liken it? 13:19It is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his own garden; and it grew, and became a tree; and the birds of the heaven lodged in the branches thereof. 13:20And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God? 13:21It is like unto leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened. 13:22And he went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and journeying on unto Jerusalem. 13:23And one said unto him, Lord, are they few that are saved? And he said unto them, 13:24Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 13:25When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he shall answer and say to you, I know you not whence ye are; 13:26then shall ye begin to say, We did eat and drink in thy presence, and thou didst teach in our streets; 13:27and he shall say, I tell you, I know not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 13:28There shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and yourselves cast forth without. 13:29And they shall come from the east and west, and from the north and south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 13:30And behold, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last. 13:31In that very hour there came certain Pharisees, saying to him, Get thee out, and go hence: for Herod would fain kill thee. 13:32And he said unto them, Go and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third day I am perfected. 13:33Nevertheless I must go on my way to-day and to-morrow and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem. 13:34O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her own brood under her wings, and ye would not! 13:35Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
28:1Surely there is a mine for silver,
And a place for gold which they refine.
28:2Iron is taken out of the earth,
And copper is molten out of the stone.
28:3Man setteth an end to darkness,
And searcheth out, to the furthest bound,
The stones of obscurity and of thick darkness.
28:4He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn;
They are forgotten of the foot;
They hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.
28:5As for the earth, out of it cometh bread;
And underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.
28:6The stones thereof are the place of sapphires,
And it hath dust of gold.
28:7That path no bird of prey knoweth,
Neither hath the falcon's eye seen it:
28:8The proud beasts have not trodden it,
Nor hath the fierce lion passed thereby.
28:9He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock;
He overturneth the mountains by the roots.
28:10He cutteth out channels among the rocks;
And his eye seeth every precious thing.
28:11He bindeth the streams that they trickle not;
And the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
28:12But where shall wisdom be found?
And where is the place of understanding?
28:13Man knoweth not the price thereof;
Neither is it found in the land of the living.
28:14The deep saith, It is not in me;
And the sea saith, It is not with me.
28:15It cannot be gotten for gold,
Neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
28:16It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir,
With the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
28:17Gold and glass cannot equal it,
Neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold.
28:18No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal:
Yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.
28:19The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it,
Neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
28:20Whence then cometh wisdom?
And where is the place of understanding?
28:21Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living,
And kept close from the birds of the heavens.
28:22Destruction and Death say,
We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.
28:23God understandeth the way thereof,
And he knoweth the place thereof.
28:24For he looketh to the ends of the earth,
And seeth under the whole heaven;
28:25To make a weight for the wind:
Yea, he meteth out the waters by measure.
28:26When he made a decree for the rain,
And a way for the lightning of the thunder;
28:27Then did he see it, and declare it;
He established it, yea, and searched it out.
28:28And unto man he said,
Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
And to depart from evil is understanding.
14:1Follow after love; yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 14:2For he that speaketh in a tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for no man understandeth; but in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 14:3But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men edification, and exhortation, and consolation. 14:4He that speaketh in a tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 14:5Now I would have you all speak with tongues, but rather that ye should prophesy: and greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. 14:6But now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak to you either by way of revelation, or of knowledge, or of prophesying, or of teaching? 14:7Even things without life, giving a voice, whether pipe or harp, if they give not a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? 14:8For if the trumpet give an uncertain voice, who shall prepare himself for war? 14:9So also ye, unless ye utter by the tongue speech easy to understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye will be speaking into the air. 14:10There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and no kind is without signification. 14:11If then I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian unto me. 14:12So also ye, since ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may abound unto the edifying of the church. 14:13Wherefore let him that speaketh in a tongue pray that he may interpret. 14:14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 14:15What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 14:16Else if thou bless with the spirit, how shall he that filleth the place of the unlearned say the Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he knoweth not what thou sayest? 14:17For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. 14:18I thank God, I speak with tongues more than you all: 14:19howbeit in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue. 14:20Brethren, be not children in mind: yet in malice be ye babes, but in mind be men. 14:21In the law it is written, By men of strange tongues and by the lips of strangers will I speak unto this people; and not even thus will they hear me, saith the Lord. 14:22Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to the unbelieving: but prophesying is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to them that believe. 14:23If therefore the whole church be assembled together and all speak with tongues, and there come in men unlearned or unbelieving, will they not say that ye are mad? 14:24But if all prophesy, and there come in one unbelieving or unlearned, he is reproved by all, he is judged by all; 14:25the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed. 14:26What is it then, brethren? When ye come together, each one hath a psalm, hath a teaching, hath a revelation, hath a tongue, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 14:27If any man speaketh in a tongue, let it be by two, or at the most three, and that in turn; and let one interpret: 14:28but if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. 14:29And let the prophets speak by two or three, and let the others discern. 14:30But if a revelation be made to another sitting by, let the first keep silence. 14:31For ye all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted; 14:32and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets; 14:33for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, 14:34let the women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but let them be in subjection, as also saith the law. 14:35And if they would learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home: for it is shameful for a woman to speak in the church. 14:36What? was it from you that the word of God went forth? or came it unto you alone? 14:37If any man thinketh himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him take knowledge of the things which I write unto you, that they are the commandment of the Lord. 14:38But if any man is ignorant, let him be ignorant. 14:39Wherefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. 14:40But let all things be done decently and in order.
