Genesis

22:1And it came to pass after these things, that God did prove Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham. And he said, Here am I. 22:2And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son, whom thou lovest, even Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah. And offer him there for a burnt-offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. 22:3And Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. And he clave the wood for the burnt-offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. 22:4On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. 22:5And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will go yonder; and we will worship, and come again to you. 22:6And Abraham took the wood of the burnt-offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. And they went both of them together. 22:7And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father. And he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold, the fire and the wood. But where is the lamb for a burnt-offering? 22:8And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son. So they went both of them together.

22:9And they came to the place which God had told him of. And Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 22:10And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 22:11And the angel of Jehovah called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham. And he said, Here I am. 22:12And he said, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him. For now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, from me. 22:13And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt-offering in the stead of his son. 22:14And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh. As it is said to this day, In the mount of Jehovah it shall be provided. 22:15And the angel of Jehovah called unto Abraham a second time out of heaven, 22:16and said, By myself have I sworn, saith Jehovah, because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, 22:17that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is upon the seashore. And thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. 22:18And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. Because thou hast obeyed my voice. 22:19So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba. And Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.

22:20And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she also hath borne children unto they brother Nahor. 22:21Uz his first-born, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram. 22:22And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel. 22:23And Bethuel begat Rebekah. These eight did Milcah bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother. 22:24And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she also bare Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maacah.

Matthew

21:1And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 21:2saying unto them, Go into the village that is over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 21:3And if any one say aught unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. 21:4Now this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,

21:5Tell ye the daughter of Zion,

Behold, thy King cometh unto thee,

Meek, and riding upon an ass,

And upon a colt the foal of an ass.

21:6And the disciples went, and did even as Jesus appointed them, 21:7and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their garments; and he sat thereon. 21:8And the most part of the multitude spread their garments in the way; and others cut branches from the trees, and spread them in the way. 21:9And the multitudes that went before him, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 21:10And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, Who is this? 21:11And the multitudes said, This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.

21:12And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of he money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves; 21:13and he saith unto them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer: but ye make it a den of robbers. 21:14And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. 21:15But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children that were crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were moved with indignation, 21:16and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou has perfected praise? 21:17And he left them, and went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

21:18Now in the morning as he returned to the city, he hungered. 21:19And seeing a fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only; and he saith unto it, Let there be no fruit from thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away. 21:20And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How did the fig tree immediately wither away? 21:21And Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done. 21:22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

21:23And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? 21:24And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one question, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things. 21:25The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why then did ye not believe him? 21:26But if we shall say, From men; we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet. 21:27And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. He also said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. 21:28But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to-day in the vineyard. 21:29And he answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented himself, and went. 21:30And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. 21:31Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 21:32For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him.

21:33Hear another parable: There was a man that was a householder, who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country. 21:34And when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive his fruits. 21:35And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. 21:36Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them in like manner. 21:37But afterward he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. 21:38But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance. 21:39And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. 21:40When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen? 21:41They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard unto other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons. 21:42Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures,

The stone which the builders rejected,

 The same was made the head of the corner;

 This was from the Lord,

And it is marvelous in our eyes?

21:43Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and shall be given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 21:44And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust. 21:45And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. 21:46And when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.

Nehemiah

11:1And the princes of the people dwelt in Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts in the other cities. 11:2And the people blessed all the men that willingly offered themselves to dwell in Jerusalem. 11:3Now these are the chiefs of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, to wit, Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the children of Solomon's servants. 11:4And in Jerusalem dwelt certain of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah: Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, of the children of Perez; 11:5and Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Colhozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of the Shilonite. 11:6All the sons of Perez that dwelt in Jerusalem were four hundred threescore and eight valiant men. 11:7And these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah. 11:8And after him Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred twenty and eight. 11:9And Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer; and Judah the son of Hassenuah was second over the city. 11:10Of the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin, 11:11Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God, 11:12and their brethren that did the work of the house, eight hundred twenty and two; and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah, 11:13and his brethren, chiefs of fathers' houses, two hundred forty and two; and Amashsai the son of Azarel, the son of Ahzai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer, 11:14and their brethren, mighty men of valor, a hundred twenty and eight; and their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of Haggedolim. 11:15And of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni; 11:16and Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chiefs of the Levites, who had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God; 11:17and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, who was the chief to begin the thanksgiving in prayer, and Bakbukiah, the second among his brethren; and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun. 11:18All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred fourscore and four. 11:19Moreover the porters, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren, that kept watch at the gates, were a hundred seventy and two. 11:20And the residue of Israel, of the priests, the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance. 11:21But the Nethinim dwelt in Ophel: and Ziha and Gishpa were over the Nethinim. 11:22The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica, of the sons of Asaph, the singers, over the business of the house of God. 11:23For there was a commandment from the king concerning them, and a settled provision for the singers, as every day required. 11:24And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people. 11:25And as for the villages, with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt in Kiriath-arba and the towns thereof, and in Dibon and the towns thereof, and in Jekabzeel and the villages thereof, 11:26and in Jeshua, and in Moladah, and Beth-pelet, 11:27and in Hazar-shual, and in Beer-sheba and the towns thereof, 11:28and in Ziklag, and in Meconah and in the towns thereof, 11:29and in En-rimmon, and in Zorah, and in Jarmuth, 11:30Zanoah, Adullam, and their villages, Lachish and the fields thereof, Azekah and the towns thereof. So they encamped from Beer-sheba unto the valley of Hinnom. 11:31The children of Benjamin also dwelt from Geba onward, at Michmash and Aija, and at Beth-el and the towns thereof, 11:32at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah, 11:33Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim, 11:34Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat, 11:35Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen. 11:36And of the Levites, certain courses in Judah were joined to Benjamin.

Acts

21:1And when it came to pass that were parted from them and had set sail, we came with a straight course unto Cos, and the next day unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara: 21:2and having found a ship crossing over unto Phoenicia, we went aboard, and set sail. 21:3And when we had come in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on the left hand, we sailed unto Syria, and landed at Tyre; for there the ship was to unlade her burden. 21:4And having found the disciples, we tarried there seven days: and these said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not set foot in Jerusalem. 21:5And when it came to pass that we had accomplished the days, we departed and went on our journey; and they all, with wives and children, brought us on our way till we were out of the city: and kneeling down on the beach, we prayed, and bade each other farewell; 21:6and we went on board the ship, but they returned home again. 21:7And when we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais; and we saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day. 21:8And on the morrow we departed, and came unto Caesarea: and entering into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, we abode with him. 21:9Now this man had four virgin daughters, who prophesied. 21:10And as we tarried there some days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. 21:11And coming to us, and taking Paul's girdle, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, Thus saith the Holy Spirit, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. 21:12And when we heard these things, both we and they of that place besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. 21:13Then Paul answered, What do ye, weeping and breaking my heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. 21:14And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done. 21:15And after these days we took up our baggage and went up to Jerusalem. 21:16And there went with us also certain of the disciples from Caesarea, bringing with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we should lodge. 21:17And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly. 21:18And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present. 21:19And when he had saluted them, he rehearsed one by one the things which God had wrought among the Gentiles through his ministry. 21:20And they, when they heard it, glorified God; and they said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of them that have believed; and they are all zealous for the law: 21:21and they have been informed concerning thee, that thou teachest all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children neither to walk after the customs. 21:22What is it therefore? They will certainly hear that thou art come. 21:23Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men that have a vow on them; 21:24these take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges for them, that they may shave their heads: and all shall know that there is no truth in the things whereof they have been informed concerning thee; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, keeping the law. 21:25But as touching the Gentiles that have believed, we wrote, giving judgment that they should keep themselves from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what is strangled, and from fornication. 21:26Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them went into the temple, declaring the fulfilment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them. 21:27And when the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the multitude and laid hands on him, 21:28crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man that teacheth all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place; and moreover he brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath defiled this holy place. 21:29For they had before seen with him in the city Trophimus the Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple. 21:30And all the city was moved, and the people ran together; and they laid hold on Paul, and dragged him out of the temple: and straightway the doors were shut. 21:31And as they were seeking to kill him, tidings came up to the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in confusion. 21:32And forthwith he took soldiers and centurions, and ran down upon them: and they, when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, left off beating Paul. 21:33Then the chief captain came near, and laid hold on him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and inquired who he was, and what he had done. 21:34And some shouted one thing, some another, among the crowd: and when he could not know the certainty for the uproar, he commanded him to be brought into the castle. 21:35And when he came upon the stairs, so it was that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the crowd; 21:36for the multitude of the people followed after, crying out, Away with him. 21:37And as Paul was about to be brought into the castle, he saith unto the chief captain, May I say something unto thee? And he said, Dost thou know Greek? 21:38Art thou not then the Egyptian, who before these days stirred up to sedition and led out into the wilderness the four thousand men of the Assassins? 21:39But Paul said, I am a Jew, of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and I beseech thee, give me leave to speak unto the people. 21:40And when he had given him leave, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with the hand unto the people; and when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew language, saying,
