31:1And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory. 31:2And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as beforetime. 31:3And Jehovah said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee. 31:4And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock, 31:5and said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as beforetime; but the God of my father hath been with me. 31:6And ye know that will all my power I have served your father. 31:7And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me. 31:8If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the flock bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstreaked shall be thy wages; then bare all the flock ringstreaked. 31:9Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me. 31:10And it came to pass at the time that the flock conceive, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the he-goats which leaped upon the flock were ringstreaked, speckled, and grizzled. 31:11And the angel of God said unto me in the dream, Jacob: and I said, Here am I. 31:12And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the he-goats which leap upon the flock are ringstreaked, speckled, and grizzled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee. 31:13I am the God of Beth-el, where thou anointedst a pillar, where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy nativity. 31:14And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house? 31:15Are we not accounted by him as foreigners? for he hath sold us, and hath also quite devoured our money. 31:16For all the riches which God hath taken away from our father, that is ours and our children's: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.
31:17Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon the camels; 31:18and he carried away all his cattle, and all his substance which he had gathered, the cattle of his getting, which he had gathered in Paddan-aram, to go to Isaac his father unto the land of Canaan. 31:19Now Laban was gone to shear his sheep: and Rachel stole the teraphim that were her father's. 31:20And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled. 31:21So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilead.
31:22And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled. 31:23And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and he overtook him in the mountain of Gilead. 31:24And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night, and said unto him, Take heed to thyself that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. 31:25And Laban came up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain: and Laban with his brethren encamped in the mountain of Gilead. 31:26And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters as captives of the sword? 31:27Wherefore didst thou flee secretly, and steal away from me, and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth and with songs, with tabret and with harp; 31:28and didst not suffer me to kiss my sons and my daughters? now hast thou done foolishly. 31:29It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take heed to thyself that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad. 31:30And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods? 31:31And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Lest thou shouldest take thy daughters from me by force. 31:32With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, he shall not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.
31:33And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the tent of the two maid-servants; but he found them not. And he went out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent. 31:34Now Rachel had taken the teraphim, and put them in the camel's saddle, and sat upon them. And Laban felt about all the tent, but found them not. 31:35And she said to her father, Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise up before thee; for the manner of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the teraphim.
31:36And Jacob was wroth, and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast hotly pursued after me? 31:37Whereas thou hast felt about all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? Set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us two. 31:38These twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she-goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flocks have I not eaten. 31:39That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night. 31:40Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from mine eyes. 31:41These twenty years have I been in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock: and thou hast changed my wages ten times. 31:42Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now hadst thou sent me away empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.
31:43And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, The daughters are my daughters, and the children are my children, and the flocks are my flocks, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children whom they have borne? 31:44And now come, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee. 31:45And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar. 31:46And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made a heap: and they did eat there by the heap. 31:47And Laban called it Jegar-saha-dutha: but Jacob called it Galeed. 31:48And Laban said, This heap is witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed: 31:49and Mizpah, for he said, Jehovah watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another. 31:50If thou shalt afflict my daughters, and if thou shalt take wives besides my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee. 31:51And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold the pillar, which I have set betwixt me and thee. 31:52This heap be witness, and the pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm. 31:53The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the Fear of his father Isaac. 31:54And Jacob offered a sacrifice in the mountain, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mountain. 31:55And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed and returned unto his place.
2:1And when he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was noised that he was in the house. 2:2And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, no, not even about the door: and he spake the word unto them. 2:3And they come, bringing unto him a man sick of the palsy, borne of four. 2:4And when they could not come nigh unto him for the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed whereon the sick of the palsy lay. 2:5And Jesus seeing their faith saith unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins are forgiven. 2:6But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 2:7Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemeth: who can forgive sins but one, even God? 2:8And straightway Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, saith unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? 2:9Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? 2:10But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy), 2:11I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thy house. 2:12And he arose, and straightway took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. 2:13And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. 2:14And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the place of toll, and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. 2:15And it came to pass, that he was sitting at meat in his house, and many publicans and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. 2:16And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and publicans, said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 2:17And when Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. 2:18And John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting: and they come and say unto him, Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? 2:19And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 2:20But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast in that day. 2:21No man seweth a piece of undressed cloth on an old garment: else that which should fill it up taketh from it, the new from the old, and a worse rent is made. 2:22And no man putteth new wine into old wineskins; else the wine will burst the skins, and the wine perisheth, and the skins: but they put new wine into fresh wine-skins. 2:23And it came to pass, that he was going on the sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears. 2:24And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? 2:25And he said unto them, Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him? 2:26How he entered into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the showbread, which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests, and gave also to them that were with him? 2:27And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 2:28so that the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.
7:1So the king and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen. 7:2And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed. 7:3Then Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favor in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request: 7:4for we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my peace, although the adversary could not have compensated for the king's damage. 7:5Then spake the king Ahasuerus and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so? 7:6And Esther said, An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen. 7:7And the king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king. 7:8Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the couch whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he even force the queen before me in the house? As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face. 7:9Then said Harbonah, one of the chamberlains that were before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman hath made for Mordecai, who spake good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. And the king said, Hang him thereon. 7:10So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.
2:1Wherefore thou art without excuse, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judges another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest dost practise the same things. 2:2And we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against them that practise such things. 2:3And reckonest thou this, O man, who judgest them that practise such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? 2:4Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? 2:5but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 2:6who will render to every man according to his works: 2:7to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life: 2:8but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, shall be wrath and indignation, 2:9tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek; 2:10but glory and honor and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek: 2:11for there is no respect of persons with God. 2:12For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without the law: and as many as have sinned under the law shall be judged by the law; 2:13for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified: 2:14(for when Gentiles that have not the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are the law unto themselves; 2:15in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness therewith, and their thoughts one with another accusing or else excusing them); 2:16in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ. 2:17But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God, 2:18and knowest his will, and approvest the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law, 2:19and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness, 2:20a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth; 2:21thou therefore that teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? 2:22thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou rob temples? 2:23thou who gloriest in the law, through thy transgression of the law dishonorest thou God? 2:24For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you, even as it is written. 2:25For circumcision indeed profiteth, if thou be a doer of the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision. 2:26If therefore the uncircumcision keep the ordinances of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision? 2:27and shall not the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who with the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law? 2:28For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh: 2:29but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
