Joshua

20:1And Jehovah spake unto Joshua, saying, 20:2Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by Moses, 20:3that the manslayer that killeth any person unwittingly and unawares may flee thither: and they shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger of blood. 20:4And he shall flee unto one of those cities, and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city; and they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them. 20:5And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver up the manslayer into his hand; because he smote his neighbor unawares, and hated him not beforetime. 20:6And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the manslayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.

20:7And they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill-country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah. 20:8And beyond the Jordan at Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness in the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh. 20:9These were the appointed cities for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person unwittingly might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.

21:1Then came near the heads of fathers' houses of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel; 21:2and they spake unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, Jehovah commanded Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for our cattle. 21:3And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their inheritance, according to the commandment of Jehovah, these cities with their suburbs.

21:4And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.

21:5And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.

21:6And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

21:7The children of Merari according to their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

21:8And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as Jehovah commanded by Moses. 21:9And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name: 21:10and they were for the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi; for theirs was the first lot. 21:11And they gave them Kiriath-arba, which Arba was the father of Anak (the same is Hebron), in the hill-country of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it. 21:12But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.

21:13And unto the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Libnah with its suburbs, 21:14and Jattir with its suburbs, and Eshtemoa with its suburbs, 21:15and Holon with its suburbs, and Debir with its suburbs, 21:16and Ain with its suburbs, and Juttah with its suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with its suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes. 21:17And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its suburbs, Geba with its suburbs, 21:18Anathoth with its suburbs, and Almon with its suburbs; four cities. 21:19All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

21:20And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, even the rest of the children of Kohath, they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim. 21:21And they gave them Shechem with its suburbs in the hill-country of Ephraim, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Gezer with its suburbs, 21:22and Kibzaim with its suburbs, and Beth-horon with its suburbs; four cities. 21:23And out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its suburbs, Gibbethon with its suburbs, 21:24Aijalon with its suburbs, Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; four cities. 21:25And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; two cities. 21:26All the cities of the families of the rest of the children of Kohath were ten with their suburbs.

21:27And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half-tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Be-eshterah with its suburbs; two cities. 21:28And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its suburbs, Daberath with its suburbs, 21:29Jarmuth with its suburbs, En-gannim with its suburbs; four cities. 21:30And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its suburbs, Abdon with its suburbs, 21:31Helkath with its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs; four cities. 21:32And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Hammoth-dor with its suburbs, and Kartan with its suburbs; three cities. 21:33All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

21:34And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its suburbs, and Kartah with its suburbs, 21:35Dimnah with its suburbs, Nahalal with its suburbs; four cities. 21:36And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its suburbs, and Jahaz with its suburbs, 21:37Kedemoth with its suburbs, and Mephaath with its suburbs; four cities. 21:38And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Mahanaim with its suburbs, 21:39Heshbon with its suburbs, Jazer with its suburbs; four cities in all. 21:40All these were the cities of the children of Merari according to their families, even the rest of the families of the Levites; and their lot was twelve cities.

21:41All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs. 21:42These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus it was with all these cities.

21:43So Jehovah gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein. 21:44And Jehovah gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; Jehovah delivered all their enemies into their hand. 21:45There failed not aught of any good thing which Jehovah had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

The Acts of the Apostles

1:1The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to teach, 1:2until the day in which he was received up, after that he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit unto the apostles whom he had chosen: 1:3To whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God: 1:4and, being assembled together with them, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, said he, ye heard from me: 1:5For John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence. 1:6They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? 1:7And he said unto them, It is not for you to know times or seasons, which the Father hath set within His own authority. 1:8But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 1:9And when he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 1:10And while they were looking stedfastly into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 1:11who also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven. 1:12Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is nigh unto Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey off. 1:13And when they were come in, they went up into the upper chamber, where they were abiding; both Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James. 1:14These all with one accord continued stedfastly in prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. 1:15And in these days Peter stood up in the midst of the brethren, and said (and there was a multitude of persons gathered together, about a hundred and twenty), 1:16Brethren, it was needful that the Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus. 1:17For he was numbered among us, and received his portion in this ministry. 1:18(Now this man obtained a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. 1:19And it became known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch that in their language that field was called Akeldama, that is, The field of blood.) 1:20For it is written in the book of Psalms,

Let his habitation be made desolate,

And let no man dwell therein:

and,

 His office let another take.

Jeremiah

10:1Hear ye the word which Jehovah speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 10:2thus saith Jehovah, Learn not the way of the nations, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the nations are dismayed at them. 10:3For the customs of the peoples are vanity; for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman with the axe. 10:4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 10:5They are like a palm-tree, of turned work, and speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither is it in them to do good. 10:6There is none like unto thee, O Jehovah; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. 10:7Who should not fear thee, O King of the nations? for to thee doth it appertain; forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their royal estate, there is none like unto thee. 10:8But they are together brutish and foolish: the instruction of idols! it is but a stock. 10:9There is silver beaten into plates, which is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the artificer and of the hands of the goldsmith; blue and purple for their clothing; they are all the work of skilful men. 10:10But Jehovah is the true God; he is the living God, and an everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembleth, and the nations are not able to abide his indignation. 10:11Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, these shall perish from the earth, and from under the heavens. 10:12He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding hath he stretched out the heavens: 10:13when he uttereth his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasuries. 10:14Every man is become brutish and is without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his graven image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. 10:15They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. 10:16The portion of Jacob is not like these; for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance: Jehovah of hosts is his name. 10:17Gather up thy wares out of the land, O thou that abidest in the siege. 10:18For thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and will distress them, that they may feel it. 10:19Woe is me because of my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is my grief, and I must bear it. 10:20My tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth from me, and they are not: there is none to spread my tent any more, and to set up my curtains. 10:21For the shepherds are become brutish, and have not inquired of Jehovah: therefore they have not prospered, and all their flocks are scattered. 10:22The voice of tidings, behold, it cometh, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling-place of jackals. 10:23O Jehovah, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. 10:24O Jehovah, correct me, but in measure: not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. 10:25Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have devoured Jacob, yea, they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.

Matthew

24:1And Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way; and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple. 24:2But he answered and said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

24:3And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 24:4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man lead you astray. 24:5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and shall lead many astray. 24:6And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for these things must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet. 24:7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places. 24:8But all these things are the beginning of travail. 24:9Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake. 24:10And then shall many stumble, and shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. 24:11And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray. 24:12And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold. 24:13But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. 24:14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.

24:15When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him that readeth understand), 24:16then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains: 24:17let him that is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house: 24:18and let him that is in the field not return back to take his cloak. 24:19But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! 24:20And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a sabbath: 24:21for then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be. 24:22And except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 24:23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here; believe it not. 24:24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 24:25Behold, I have told you beforehand. 24:26If therefore they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the wilderness; go not forth: Behold, he is in the inner chambers; believe it not. 24:27For as the lightning cometh forth from the east, and is seen even unto the west; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. 24:28Wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

24:29But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 24:30and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 24:31And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

24:32Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch is now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh; 24:33even so ye also, when ye see all these things, know ye that he is nigh, even at the doors. 24:34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished. 24:35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 24:36But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only. 24:37And as were the days of Noah, so shall be the coming of the Son of man. 24:38For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 24:39and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall be the coming of the Son of man. 24:40Then shall two man be in the field; one is taken, and one is left: 24:41two women shall be grinding at the mill; one is taken, and one is left. 24:42Watch therefore: for ye know not on what day your Lord cometh. 24:43But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through. 24:44Therefore be ye also ready; for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.

24:45Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath set over his household, to give them their food in due season? 24:46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 24:47Verily I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath. 24:48But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord tarrieth; 24:49and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall eat and drink with the drunken; 24:50the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, 24:51and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
