10:1And after Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in the hill-country of Ephraim. 10:2And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
10:3And after him arose Jair, the Gileadite; and he judged Israel twenty and two years. 10:4And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth-jair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead. 10:5And Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.
10:6And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and served the Baalim, and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook Jehovah, and served him not. 10:7And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon. 10:8And they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel that year: eighteen years oppressed they all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead. 10:9And the children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.
10:10And the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah, saying, We have sinned against thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baalim. 10:11And Jehovah said unto the children of Israel, Did not I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines? 10:12The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried unto me, and I saved you out of their hand. 10:13Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will save you no more. 10:14Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress. 10:15And the children of Israel said unto Jehovah, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; only deliver us, we pray thee, this day. 10:16And they put away the foreign gods from among them, and served Jehovah; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
10:17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah. 10:18And the people, the princes of Gilead, said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
11:1Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, and he was the son of a harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah. 11:2And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and when his wife's sons grew up, they drove out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father's house; for thou art the son of another woman. 11:3Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain fellows to Jephthah, and they went out with him.
11:4And it came to pass after a while, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel. 11:5And it was so, that, when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob; 11:6and they said unto Jephthah, Come and be our chief, that we may fight with the children of Ammon. 11:7And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and drive me out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress? 11:8And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore are we turned again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight with the children of Ammon; and thou shalt be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead. 11:9And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight with the children of Ammon, and Jehovah deliver them before me, shall I be your head? 11:10And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Jehovah shall be witness between us; surely according to thy word so will we do. 11:11Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and chief over them: and Jephthah spake all his words before Jehovah in Mizpah.
14:1And it came to pass in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed. 14:2But the Jews that were disobedient stirred up the souls of the Gentiles, and made them evil affected against the brethren. 14:3Long time therefore they tarried there speaking boldly in the Lord, who bare witness unto the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands. 14:4But the multitude of the city was divided; and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles. 14:5And when there was made an onset both of the Gentiles and of the Jews with their rulers, to treat them shamefully and to stone them, 14:6they became aware of it, and fled unto the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the region round about: 14:7and there they preached the gospel. 14:8And at Lystra there sat a certain man, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked. 14:9The same heard Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes upon him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole, 14:10said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped up and walked. 14:11And when the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. 14:12And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker. 14:13And the priest of Jupiter whose temple was before the city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the multitudes. 14:14But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they rent their garments, and sprang forth among the multitude, crying out 14:15and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good tidings, that ye should turn from these vain things unto a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is: 14:16who in the generations gone by suffered all the nations to walk in their own ways. 14:17And yet He left not himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness. 14:18And with these sayings scarce restrained they the multitudes from doing sacrifice unto them. 14:19But there came Jews thither from Antioch and Iconium: and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. 14:20But as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and entered into the city: and on the morrow he went forth with Barnabas to Derbe. 14:21And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch, 14:22confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God. 14:23And when they had appointed for them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they had believed. 14:24And they passed through Pisidia, and came to Pamphylia. 14:25And when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia; 14:26and thence they sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled. 14:27And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith unto the Gentiles. 14:28And they tarried no little time with the disciples.
23:1Woe unto the shepherds that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith Jehovah. 23:2Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, against the shepherds that feed my people: Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith Jehovah. 23:3And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and multiply. 23:4And I will set up shepherds over them, who shall feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be lacking, saith Jehovah. 23:5Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 23:6In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby he shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness. 23:7Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that they shall no more say, As Jehovah liveth, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 23:8but, As Jehovah liveth, who brought up and who led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all the countries whither I had driven them. And they shall dwell in their own land. 23:9Concerning the prophets. My heart within me is broken, all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of Jehovah, and because of his holy words. 23:10For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pastures of the wilderness are dried up. And their course is evil, and their might is not right; 23:11for both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith Jehovah. 23:12Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery places in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein; for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith Jehovah. 23:13And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. 23:14In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies; and they strengthen the hands of evil-doers, so that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. 23:15Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall; for from the prophets of Jerusalem is ungodliness gone forth into all the land. 23:16Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they teach you vanity; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Jehovah. 23:17They say continually unto them that despise me, Jehovah hath said, Ye shall have peace; and unto every one that walketh in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil shall come upon you. 23:18For who hath stood in the council of Jehovah, that he should perceive and hear his word? who hath marked my word, and heard it? 23:19Behold, the tempest of Jehovah, even his wrath, is gone forth, yea, a whirling tempest: it shall burst upon the head of the wicked. 23:20The anger of Jehovah shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall understand it perfectly. 23:21I sent not these prophets, yet they ran: I spake not unto them, yet they prophesied. 23:22But if they had stood in my council, then had they caused my people to hear my words, and had turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. 23:23Am I a God at hand, saith Jehovah, and not a God afar off? 23:24Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? saith Jehovah. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith Jehovah. 23:25I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. 23:26How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart? 23:27that think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers forgat my name for Baal. 23:28The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? saith Jehovah. 23:29Is not my word like fire? saith Jehovah; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? 23:30Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith Jehovah, that steal my words every one from his neighbor. 23:31Behold, I am against the prophets, saith Jehovah, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. 23:32Behold, I am against them that prophesy lying dreams, saith Jehovah, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting: yet I sent them not, nor commanded them; neither do they profit this people at all, saith Jehovah. 23:33And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of Jehovah? then shalt thou say unto them, What burden! I will cast you off, saith Jehovah. 23:34And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of Jehovah, I will even punish that man and his house. 23:35Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbor, and every one to his brother, What hath Jehovah answered? and, What hath Jehovah spoken? 23:36And the burden of Jehovah shall ye mention no more: for every man's own word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of Jehovah of hosts our God. 23:37Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath Jehovah answered thee? and, What hath Jehovah spoken? 23:38But if ye say, The burden of Jehovah; therefore thus saith Jehovah: Because ye say this word, The burden of Jehovah, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of Jehovah; 23:39therefore, behold, I will utterly forget you, and I will cast you off, and the city that I gave unto you and to your fathers, away from my presence: 23:40and I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.
9:1And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There are some here of them that stand by, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God come with power. 9:2And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them; 9:3and his garments became glistering, exceeding white, so as no fuller on earth can whiten them. 9:4And there appeared unto them Elijah with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. 9:5And Peter answereth and saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. 9:6For he knew not what to answer; for they became sore afraid. 9:7And there came a cloud overshadowing them: and there came a voice out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son: hear ye him. 9:8And suddenly looking round about, they saw no one any more, save Jesus only with themselves. 9:9And as they were coming down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, save when the Son of man should have risen again from the dead. 9:10And they kept the saying, questioning among themselves what the rising again from the dead should mean. 9:11And they asked him, saying, How is it that the scribes say that Elijah must first come? 9:12And he said unto them, Elijah indeed cometh first, and restoreth all things: and how is it written of the Son of man, that he should suffer many things and be set at nought? 9:13But I say unto you, that Elijah is come, and they have also done unto him whatsoever they would, even as it is written of him. 9:14And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great multitude about them, and scribes questioning with them. 9:15And straightway all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him. 9:16And he asked them, What question ye with them? 9:17And one of the multitude answered him, Teacher, I brought unto thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit; 9:18and wheresoever it taketh him, it dasheth him down: and he foameth, and grindeth his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast it out; and they were not able. 9:19And he answereth them and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him unto me. 9:20And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him grievously; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. 9:21And he asked his father, How long time is it since this hath come unto him? And he said, From a child. 9:22And oft-times it hath cast him both into the fire and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us. 9:23And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth. 9:24Straightway the father of the child cried out, and said, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. 9:25And when Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. 9:26And having cried out, and torn him much, he came out: and the boy became as one dead; insomuch that the more part said, He is dead. 9:27But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose. 9:28And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, How is it that we could not cast it out? 9:29And he said unto them, This kind can come out by nothing, save by prayer. 9:30And they went forth from thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it. 9:31For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered up into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and when he is killed, after three days he shall rise again. 9:32But they understood not the saying, and were afraid to ask him. 9:33And they came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house he asked them, What were ye reasoning on the way? 9:34But they held their peace: for they had disputed one with another on the way, who was the greatest. 9:35And he sat down, and called the twelve; and he saith unto them, If any man would be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all. 9:36And he took a little child, and set him in the midst of them: and taking him in his arms, he said unto them, 9:37Whosoever shall receive one of such little children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever receiveth me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. 9:38John said unto him, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbade him, because he followed not us. 9:39But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man who shall do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me. 9:40For he that is not against us is for us. 9:41For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink, because ye are Christ's, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. 9:42And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it were better for him if a great millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. 9:43And if thy hand cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed, rather than having thy two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire. 9:44where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 9:45And if thy foot cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life halt, rather than having thy two feet to be cast into hell. 9:46where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 9:47And if thine eye cause thee to stumble, cast it out: it is good for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell; 9:48where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 9:49For every one shall be salted with fire. 9:50Salt is good: but if the salt have lost its saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace one with another.
