12:1And the men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house upon thee with fire. 12:2And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye saved me not out of their hand. 12:3And when I saw that ye saved me not, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Jehovah delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me? 12:4Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye are fugitives of Ephraim, ye Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim, and in the midst of Manasseh. 12:5And the Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. And it was so, that, when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, Let me go over, the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay; 12:6then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth; and he said Sibboleth; for he could not frame to pronounce it right: then they laid hold on him, and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand.
12:7And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
12:8And after him Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel. 12:9And he had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent abroad, and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years. 12:10And Ibzan died, and was buried at Beth-lehem. 12:11And after him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years. 12:12And Elon the Zebulunite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
12:13And after him Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel. 12:14And he had forty sons and thirty sons' sons, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years. 12:15And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill-country of the Amalekites.
16:1And he came also to Derbe and to Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess that believed; but his father was a Greek. 16:2The same was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium. 16:3Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those parts: for they all knew that his father was a Greek. 16:4And as they went on their way through the cities, they delivered them the decrees to keep which had been ordained of the apostles and elders that were at Jerusalem. 16:5So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily. 16:6And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden of the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; 16:7and when they were come over against Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia; and the Spirit of Jesus suffered them not; 16:8and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 16:9And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: There was a man of Macedonia standing, beseeching him, and saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 16:10And when he had seen the vision, straightway we sought to go forth into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. 16:11Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis; 16:12and from thence to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the first of the district, a Roman colony: and we were in this city tarrying certain days. 16:13And on the sabbath day we went forth without the gate by a river side, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down, and spake unto the women that were come together. 16:14And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened to give heed unto the things which were spoken by Paul. 16:15And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. 16:16And it came to pass, as we were going to the place of prayer, that a certain maid having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by soothsaying. 16:17The same following after Paul and us cried out, saying, These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim unto you the way of salvation. 16:18And this she did for many days. But Paul, being sore troubled, turned and said to the spirit, I charge thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out that very hour. 16:19But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they laid hold on Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers, 16:20and when they had brought them unto the magistrates, they said, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city, 16:21and set forth customs which it is not lawful for us to receive, or to observe, being Romans. 16:22And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent their garments off them, and commanded to beat them with rods. 16:23And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: 16:24who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. 16:25But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns unto God, and the prisoners were listening to them; 16:26and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison-house were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. 16:27And the jailor, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 16:28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 16:29And he called for lights and sprang in, and, trembling for fear, fell down before Paul and Silas, 16:30and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 16:31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house. 16:32And they spake the word of the Lord unto him, with all that were in his house. 16:33And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, immediately. 16:34And he brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his house, having believed in God. 16:35But when it was day, the magistrates sent the sergeants, saying, Let those men go. 16:36And the jailor reported the words to Paul, saying, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore come forth, and go in peace. 16:37But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Romans, and have cast us into prison; and do they now cast us out privily? Nay verily; but let them come themselves and bring us out. 16:38And the sergeants reported these words unto the magistrates: and they feared when they heard that they were Romans; 16:39and they came and besought them; and when they had brought them out, they asked them to go away from the city. 16:40And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
25:1The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (the same was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon,) 25:2which Jeremiah the prophet spake unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: 25:3From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even unto this day, these three and twenty years, the word of Jehovah hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising up early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened. 25:4And Jehovah hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, (but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear,) 25:5saying, Return ye now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that Jehovah hath given unto you and to your fathers, from of old and even for evermore; 25:6and go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the work of your hands; and I will do you no hurt. 25:7Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith Jehovah; that ye may provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own hurt. 25:8Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Because ye have not heard my words, 25:9behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith Jehovah, and I will send unto Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations. 25:10Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp. 25:11And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. 25:12And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith Jehovah, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it desolate for ever. 25:13And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations. 25:14For many nations and great kings shall make bondmen of them, even of them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands. 25:15For thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto me: take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it. 25:16And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. 25:17Then took I the cup at Jehovah's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom Jehovah had sent me: 25:18to wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day; 25:19Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; 25:20and all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of the Uz, and all the kings of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod; 25:21Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon; 25:22and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea; 25:23Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that have the corners of their hair cut off; 25:24and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the wilderness; 25:25and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes; 25:26and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them. 25:27And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink ye, and be drunken, and spew, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you. 25:28And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ye shall surely drink. 25:29For, lo, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith Jehovah of hosts. 25:30Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, Jehovah will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar against his fold; he will give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. 25:31A noise shall come even to the end of the earth; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh: as for the wicked, he will give them to the sword, saith Jehovah. 25:32Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great tempest shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth. 25:33And the slain of Jehovah shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the face of the ground. 25:34Wail, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow in ashes, ye principal of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are fully come, and ye shall fall like a goodly vessel. 25:35And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape. 25:36A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the principal of the flock! for Jehovah layeth waste their pasture. 25:37And the peaceable folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of Jehovah. 25:38He hath left his covert, as the lion; for their land is become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppressing sword, and because of his fierce anger.
11:1And when they draw nigh unto Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth two of his disciples, 11:2and saith unto them, Go your way into the village that is over against you: and straightway as ye enter into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat; loose him, and bring him. 11:3And if any one say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye, The Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him back hither. 11:4And they went away, and found a colt tied at the door without in the open street; and they loose him. 11:5And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? 11:6And they said unto them even as Jesus had said: and they let them go. 11:7And they bring the colt unto Jesus, and cast on him their garments; and he sat upon him. 11:8And many spread their garments upon the way; and others branches, which they had cut from the fields. 11:9And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: 11:10Blessed is the kingdom that cometh, the kingdom of our father David: Hosanna in the highest. 11:11And he entered into Jerusalem, into the temple; and when he had looked round about upon all things, it being now eventide, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve. 11:12And on the morrow, when they were come out from Bethany, he hungered. 11:13And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season of figs. 11:14And he answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit from thee henceforward for ever. And his disciples heard it. 11:15And they come to Jerusalem: and he entered into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and them that bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves; 11:16and he would not suffer that any man should carry a vessel through the temple. 11:17And he taught, and said unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? but ye have made it a den of robbers. 11:18And the chief priests and the scribes heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, for all the multitude was astonished at his teaching. 11:19And every evening he went forth out of the city. 11:20And as they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots. 11:21And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Rabbi, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. 11:22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 11:23Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he saith cometh to pass; he shall have it. 11:24Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. 11:25And whensoever ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any one; that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 11:26But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses. 11:27And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders; 11:28and they said unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? or who gave thee this authority to do these things? 11:29And Jesus said unto them, I will ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 11:30The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men? answer me. 11:31And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; He will say, Why then did ye not believe him? 11:32But should we say, From men--they feared the people: for all verily held John to be a prophet. 11:33And they answered Jesus and say, We know not. And Jesus saith unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
