Deuteronomy

7:1When Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and shall cast out many nations before thee, the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; 7:2and when Jehovah thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and thou shalt smite them; then thou shalt utterly destroy them: thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them; 7:3neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. 7:4For he will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and he will destroy thee quickly. 7:5But thus shall ye deal with them: ye shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and hew down their Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire.

7:6For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God: Jehovah thy God hath chosen thee to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth. 7:7Jehovah did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all peoples: 7:8but because Jehovah loveth you, and because he would keep the oath which he sware unto your fathers, hath Jehovah brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 7:9Know therefore that Jehovah thy God, he is God, the faithful God, who keepeth covenant and lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations, 7:10and repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face. 7:11Thou shalt therefore keep the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command thee this day, to do them.

7:12And it shall come to pass, because ye hearken to these ordinances, and keep and do them, that Jehovah thy God will keep with thee the covenant and the lovingkindness which he sware unto thy fathers: 7:13and he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; he will also bless the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground, thy grain and thy new wine and thine oil, the increase of thy cattle and the young of thy flock, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 7:14Thou shalt be blessed above all peoples: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. 7:15And Jehovah will take away from thee all sickness; and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, will he put upon thee, but will lay them upon all them that hate thee. 7:16And thou shalt consume all the peoples that Jehovah thy God shall deliver unto thee; thine eye shall not pity them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.

7:17If thou shalt say in thy heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them? 7:18thou shalt not be afraid of them: thou shalt well remember what Jehovah thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt; 7:19the great trials which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, whereby Jehovah thy God brought thee out: so shall Jehovah thy God do unto all the peoples of whom thou art afraid. 7:20Moreover Jehovah thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves, perish from before thee. 7:21Thou shalt not be affrighted at them; for Jehovah thy God is in the midst of thee, a great God and a terrible. 7:22And Jehovah thy God will cast out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee. 7:23But Jehovah thy God will deliver them up before thee, and will discomfit them with a great discomfiture, until they be destroyed. 7:24And he will deliver their kings into thy hand, and thou shalt make their name to perish from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them. 7:25The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein; for it is an abomination to Jehovah thy God. 7:26And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, and become a devoted thing like unto it: thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.

Psalms

A Prayer of Moses the man of God.

 90:1Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place

 In all generations.

 90:2Before the mountains were brought forth,

 Or ever thou *hadst formed the earth and the world,

 Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

 90:3Thou turnest man to *destruction,

 And sayest, Return, ye children of men.

 90:4For a thousand years in thy sight

 Are but as yesterday *when it is past,

 And as a watch in the night.

 90:5Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep:

 In the morning they are like grass which groweth up.

 90:6In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up;

 In the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

 90:7For we are consumed in thine anger,

 And in thy wrath are we troubled.

 90:8Thou hast set our iniquities before thee,

 Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

 90:9For all our days are passed away in thy wrath:

 We bring our years to an end as *a sigh.

 90:10The days of our years are threescore years and ten,

 Or even by reason of strength fourscore years;

 Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow;

 For it is soon gone, and we fly away.

 90:11Who knoweth the power of thine anger,

 And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?

 90:12So teach us to number our days,

 That we may get us a heart of wisdom.

 90:13Return, O Jehovah; how long?

 And let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

 90:14Oh satisfy us in the morning with thy lovingkindness,

 That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

 90:15Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us,

 And the years wherein we have seen evil.

 90:16Let thy work appear unto thy servants,

 And thy glory upon their children.

 90:17And let the *favor of the Lord our God be upon us;

 And establish thou the work of our hands upon us;

 Yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Isaiah

35:1The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. 35:2It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing; the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon: they shall see the glory of Jehovah, the excellency of our God. 35:3Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. 35:4Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; he will come and save you. 35:5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 35:6Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing; for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. 35:7And the glowing sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water: in the habitation of jackals, where they lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. 35:8And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but is shall be for the redeemed: the wayfaring men, yea fools, shall not err therein. 35:9No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast go up thereon; they shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: 35:10and the ransomed of Jehovah shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Revelation

5:1And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the back, close sealed with seven seals. 5:2And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a great voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 5:3And no one in the heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look thereon. 5:4And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book, or to look thereon: 5:5and one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not; behold, the Lion that is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath overcome to open the book and the seven seals thereof. 5:6And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth. 5:7And he came, and he taketh it out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne. 5:8And when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 5:9And they sing a new song, saying,

Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood men of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, 5:10and madest them to be unto our God a kingdom and priests; and they reign upon earth.

5:11And I saw, and I heard a voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; 5:12saying with a great voice,

Worthy is the Lamb that hath been slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and might and honor, and glory, and blessing.

5:13And every created thing which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all things are in them, heard I saying,

Unto him that sitteth on the throne, and unto the Lamb, be the blessing, and the honor, and the glory, and the dominion, for ever and ever.

5:14And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the elders fell down and worshipped.
