19:1And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 19:2This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke. 19:3And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face: 19:4and Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle her blood toward the front of the tent of meeting seven times. 19:5And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn: 19:6and the priest shall take cedar-wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer. 19:7Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even. 19:8And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even. 19:9And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place; and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water for impurity: it is a sin-offering. 19:10And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.
19:11He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days: 19:12the same shall purify himself therewith on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean. 19:13Whosoever toucheth a dead person, the body of a man that hath died, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water for impurity was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.
19:14This is the law when a man dieth in a tent: every one that cometh into the tent, and every one that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days. 19:15And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean. 19:16And whosoever in the open field toucheth one that is slain with a sword, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days. 19:17And for the unclean they shall take of the ashes of the burning of the sin-offering; and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel: 19:18and a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave: 19:19and the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.
19:20But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of Jehovah: the water for impurity hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean. 19:21And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them: and he that sprinkleth the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and he that toucheth the water for impurity shall be unclean until even. 19:22And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.
For the Chief Musician; set to *Jonath elem rehokim. A Psalm of David. Michtam: when the Philistines took him in Gath.
56:1Be merciful unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up:
All the day long he fighting oppresseth me.
56:2Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long;
For they are many that fight proudly against me.
56:3What time I am afraid,
I will put my trust in thee.
56:4In God (I will praise his word),
In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid;
What can flesh do unto me?
56:5All the day long they wrest my words:
All their thoughts are against me for evil.
56:6They gather themselves together, they hide themselves,
They mark my steps,
Even as they have waited for my soul.
56:7Shall they escape by iniquity?
In anger cast down the peoples, O God.
56:8Thou numberest my wanderings:
Put thou my tears into thy bottle;
Are they not in thy book?
56:9Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call:
This I know, that God is for me.
56:10In God (I will praise his word),
In Jehovah (I will praise his word),
56:11In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid;
What can man do unto me?
56:12Thy vows are upon me, O God:
I will render thank-offerings unto thee.
56:13For thou hast delivered my soul from death:
Hast thou not delivered my feet from falling,
That I may walk before God
In the light of the living?
For the Chief Musician; set to Al-tash-heth. A Psalm of David. Michtam; when he fled from Saul, in the cave.
57:1Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me;
For my soul taketh refuge in thee:
Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I take refuge,
Until these calamities be overpast.
57:2I will cry unto God Most High,
Unto God that performeth all things for me.
57:3He will send from heaven, and save me,
When he that would swallow me up reproacheth;
Selah
God will send forth his lovingkindness and his truth.
57:4My soul is among lions;
I lie among them that are set on fire,
Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows,
And their tongue a sharp sword.
57:5Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let thy glory be above all the earth.
57:6They have prepared a net for my steps;
My soul is bowed down:
They have digged a pit before me;
They are fallen into the midst thereof themselves.
Selah
57:7My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed:
I will sing, yea, I will sing praises.
57:8Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp:
I myself will awake right early.
57:9I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the peoples:
I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.
57:10For thy lovingkindness is great unto the heavens,
And thy truth unto the skies.
57:11Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let thy glory be above all the earth.
8:1And Jehovah said unto me, Take thee a great tablet, and write upon it with the pen of a man, For Maher-shalal-hash-baz; 8:2and I will take unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. 8:3And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said Jehovah unto me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz. 8:4For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and, My mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria. 8:5And Jehovah spake unto me yet again, saying, 8:6Forasmuch as this people have refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son; 8:7now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the River, strong and many, even the king of Assyria and all his glory: and it shall come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks; 8:8and it shall sweep onward into Judah; it shall overflow and pass through; it shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of its wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel. 8:9Make an uproar, O ye peoples, and be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces. 8:10Take counsel together, and it shall be brought to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us. 8:11For Jehovah spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, 8:12Say ye not, A conspiracy, concerning all whereof this people shall say, A conspiracy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be in dread thereof. 8:13Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 8:14And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 8:15And many shall stumble thereon, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. 8:16Bind thou up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. 8:17And I will wait for Jehovah, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him. 8:18Behold, I and the children whom Jehovah hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from Jehovah of hosts, who dwelleth in mount Zion. 8:19And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits and unto the wizards, that chirp and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? on behalf of the living should they seek unto the dead? 8:20To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. 8:21And they shall pass through it, sore distressed and hungry; and it shall come to pass that, when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse by their king and by their God, and turn their faces upward: 8:22and they shall look unto the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and into thick darkness they shall be driven away.
9:1But there shall be no gloom to her that was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time hath he made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. 9:2The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. 9:3Thou hast multiplied the nation, thou hast increased their joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. 9:4For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, thou hast broken as in the day of Midian. 9:5For all the armor of the armed man in the tumult, and the garments rolled in blood, shall be for burning, for fuel of fire. 9:6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 9:7Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.
2:1My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2:2For if there come into your synagogue a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, and there come in also a poor man in vile clothing; 2:3and ye have regard to him that weareth the fine clothing, and say, Sit thou here in a good place; and ye say to the poor man, Stand thou there, or sit under my footstool; 2:4Do ye not make distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? 2:5Hearken, my beloved brethren; did not God choose them that are poor as to the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him? 2:6But ye have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and themselves drag you before the judgment-seats? 2:7Do not they blaspheme the honorable name by which ye are called? 2:8Howbeit if ye fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well: 2:9but if ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. 2:10For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is become guilty of all. 2:11For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou dost not commit adultery, but killest, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 2:12So speak ye, and so do, as men that are to be judged by a law of liberty. 2:13For judgment is without mercy to him that hath showed no mercy: mercy glorieth against judgment. 2:14What doth it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but have not works? can that faith save him? 2:15If a brother or sister be naked and in lack of daily food, 2:16and one of you say unto them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; and yet ye give them not the things needful to the body; what doth it profit? 2:17Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself. 2:18Yea, a man will say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith apart from thy works, and I by my works will show thee my faith. 2:19Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well: the demons also believe, and shudder. 2:20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is barren? 2:21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? 2:22Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect; 2:23and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God. 2:24Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith. 2:25And in like manner was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way? 2:26For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.
