Numbers

30:1And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which Jehovah hath commanded. 30:2When a man voweth a vow unto Jehovah, or sweareth an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth. 30:3Also when a woman voweth a vow unto Jehovah, and bindeth herself by a bond, being in her father's house, in her youth, 30:4and her father heareth her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father holdeth his peace at her; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 30:5But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth, none of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and Jehovah will forgive her, because her father disallowed her.

30:6And if she be married to a husband, while her vows are upon her, or the rash utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul, 30:7and her husband hear it, and hold his peace at her in the day that he heareth it; then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 30:8But if her husband disallow her in the day that he heareth it, then he shall make void her vow which is upon her, and the rash utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul: and Jehovah will forgive her. 30:9But the vow of a widow, or of her that is divorced, even everything wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand against her. 30:10And if she vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath, 30:11and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. 30:12But if her husband made them null and void in the day that he heard them, then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and Jehovah will forgive her.

30:13Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void. 30:14But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day, then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he hath established them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them. 30:15But if he shall make them null and void after that he hath heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity. 30:16These are the statutes, which Jehovah commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between a father and his daughter, being in her youth, in her father's house.

Psalms

Maschil of Asaph.

 74:1O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever?

 Why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

 74:2Remember thy congregation, which thou hast gotten of old,

 Which thou hast redeemed to be the tribe of thine inheritance;

 And mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

 74:3Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual ruins,

 All the evil that the enemy hath done in the sanctuary.

 74:4Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine assembly;

 They have set up their ensigns for signs.

 74:5They seemed as men that lifted up

 Axes upon a thicket of trees.

 74:6And now all the carved work thereof

 They break down with hatchet and hammers.

 74:7They have set thy sanctuary on fire;

 They have profaned the dwelling-place of thy name by casting it to the ground.

 74:8They said in their heart, Let us make havoc of them altogether:

 They have burned up all the *synagogues of God in the land.

 74:9We see not our signs:

 There is no more any prophet;

 Neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.

 74:10How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach?

 Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?

 74:11Why drawest thou back thy hand, even thy right hand?

 Pluck it out of thy bosom and consume them.

 74:12Yet God is my King of old,

 Working salvation in the midst of the earth.

 74:13Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength:

 Thou brakest the heads of the sea-monsters in the waters.

 74:14Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces;

 Thou gavest him to be food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

 74:15Thou didst cleave fountain and flood:

 Thou driedst up mighty rivers.

 74:16The day is thine, the night also is thine:

 Thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

 74:17Thou hast set all the borders of the earth:

 Thou hast made summer and winter.

 74:18Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O Jehovah,

 And that a foolish people hath blasphemed thy name.

 74:19Oh deliver not the soul of thy turtle-dove unto the wild beast:

 Forget not the life of thy poor for ever.

 74:20Have respect unto the covenant;

 For the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of violence.

 74:21Oh let not the oppressed return ashamed:

 Let the poor and needy praise thy name.

 74:22Arise, O God, plead thine own cause:

 Remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee all the day.

 74:23Forget not the voice of thine adversaries:

 The tumult of those that rise up against thee ascendeth continually.

Isaiah

22:1The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops? 22:2O thou that art full of shoutings, a tumultuous city, a joyous town; thy slain are not slain with the sword, neither are they dead in battle. 22:3All thy rulers fled away together, they were bound by the archers; all that were found of thee were bound together; they fled afar off. 22:4Therefore said I, Look away from me, I will weep bitterly; labor not to comfort me for the destruction of the daughter of my people. 22:5For it is a day of discomfiture, and of treading down, and of perplexity, from the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, in the valley of vision; a breaking down of the walls, and a crying to the mountains. 22:6And Elam bare the quiver, with chariots of men and horsemen; and Kir uncovered the shield. 22:7And it came to pass, that thy choicest valleys were full of chariots, and the horsemen set themselves in array at the gate. 22:8And he took away the covering of Judah; and thou didst look in that day to the armor in the house of the forest. 22:9And ye saw the breaches of the city of David, that they were many; and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool; 22:10and ye numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and ye brake down the houses to fortify the wall; 22:11ye made also a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But ye looked not unto him that had done this, neither had ye respect unto him that purposed it long ago. 22:12And in that day did the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth: 22:13and behold, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine: let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we shall die. 22:14And Jehovah of hosts revealed himself in mine ears, Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven you till ye die, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts. 22:15Thus saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, who is over the house, and say, 22:16What doest thou here? and whom has thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out here a sepulchre? hewing him out a sepulchre on high, graving a habitation for himself in the rock! 22:17Behold, Jehovah, like a strong man, will hurl thee away violently; yea, he will wrap thee up closely. 22:18He will surely wind thee round and round, and toss thee like a ball into a large country; there shalt thou die, and there shall be the chariots of thy glory, thou shame of thy lord's house. 22:19And I will thrust thee from thine office; and from thy station shalt thou be pulled down. 22:20And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah: 22:21and I will cloth him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. 22:22And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; and he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. 22:23And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a throne of glory to his father's house. 22:24And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, every small vessel, from the cups even to all the flagons. 22:25In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, shall the nail that was fastened in a sure place give way; and it shall be hewn down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off; for Jehovah hath spoken it.

2 Peter

3:1This is now, beloved, the second epistle that I write unto you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by putting you in remembrance; 3:2that ye should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandments of the Lord and Saviour through your apostles: 3:3knowing this first, that in the last days mockers shall come with mockery, walking after their own lusts, 3:4and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 3:5For this they willfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst water, by the word of God; 3:6by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 3:7but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 3:8But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 3:9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 3:10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 3:11Seeing that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy living and godliness, 3:12looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 3:13But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 3:14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, give diligence that ye may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in his sight. 3:15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote unto you; 3:16as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 3:17Ye therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware lest, being carried away with the error of the wicked, ye fall from your own stedfastness. 3:18But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and for ever. Amen.
