32:1Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle; 32:2the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying, 32:3Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon, 32:4the land which Jehovah smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle; and thy servants have cattle. 32:5And they said, If we have found favor in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession; bring us not over the Jordan.
32:6And Moses said unto the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to the war, and shall ye sit here? 32:7And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Jehovah hath given them? 32:8Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land. 32:9For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which Jehovah had given them. 32:10And Jehovah's anger was kindled in that day, and he sware, saying, 32:11Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me: 32:12save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; because they have wholly followed Jehovah. 32:13And Jehovah's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander to and fro in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of Jehovah, was consumed. 32:14And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Jehovah toward Israel. 32:15For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye will destroy all this people.
32:16And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones: 32:17but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land. 32:18We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance. 32:19For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.
32:20And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will arm yourselves to go before Jehovah to the war, 32:21and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before Jehovah, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him, 32:22and the land is subdued before Jehovah; then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless towards Jehovah, and towards Israel; and this land shall be unto you for a possession before Jehovah. 32:23But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against Jehovah; and be sure your sin will find you out. 32:24Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which hath proceeded out of your mouth. 32:25And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spake unto Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commandeth. 32:26Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead; 32:27but thy servants will pass over, every man that is armed for war, before Jehovah to battle, as my lord saith.
32:28So Moses gave charge concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel. 32:29And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man that is armed to battle, before Jehovah, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession: 32:30but if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan. 32:31And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As Jehovah hath said unto thy servants, so will we do. 32:32We will pass over armed before Jehovah into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.
32:33And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, according to the cities thereof with their borders, even the cities of the land round about. 32:34And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer, 32:35and Atrothshophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah, 32:36and Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran: fortified cities, and folds for sheep. 32:37And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim, 32:38and Nebo, and Baal-meon, (their names being changed,) and Sibmah: and they gave other names unto the cities which they builded. 32:39And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites that were therein. 32:40And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein. 32:41And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the towns thereof, and called them Havvoth-jair. 32:42And Nobah went and took Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobah, after his own name.
For the Chief Musician; after the manner of Jeduthan. A Psalm of Asaph.
77:1I will cry unto God with my voice,
Even unto God with my voice; and he will give ear unto me.
77:2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord:
My hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not;
My soul refused to be comforted.
77:3I remember God, and am disquieted:
I complain, and my spirit is *overwhelmed.
Selah
77:4Thou holdest mine eyes watching:
I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
77:5I have considered the days of old,
The years of ancient times.
77:6I call to remembrance my song in the night:
I commune with mine own heart;
And my spirit maketh diligent search.
77:7Will the Lord cast off for ever?
And will he be favorable no more?
77:8Is his lovingkindness clean gone for ever?
Doth his promise fail for evermore?
77:9Hath God forgotten to be gracious?
Hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies?
Selah
77:10And I said, This is my infirmity;
But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.
77:11I will make mention of the deeds of *Jehovah;
For I will remember thy wonders of old.
77:12I will meditate also upon all thy work,
And muse on thy doings.
77:13Thy way, O God, is *in the sanctuary:
Who is a great god like unto God?
77:14Thou art the God that doest wonders:
Thou hast made known thy strength among the peoples.
77:15Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people,
The sons of Jacob and Joseph.
Selah
77:16The waters saw thee, O God;
The waters saw thee, they *were afraid:
The depths also trembled.
77:17The clouds poured out water;
The skies sent out a sound:
Thine arrows also went abroad.
77:18The voice of thy thunder was in the whirlwind;
The lightnings lightened the world:
The earth trembled and shook.
77:19Thy way was in the sea,
And thy paths in the great waters,
And thy footsteps were not known.
77:20Thou leddest thy people like a flock,
By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
24:1Behold, Jehovah maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. 24:2And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest to him. 24:3The earth shall be utterly emptied, and utterly laid waste; for Jehovah hath spoken this word. 24:4The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the lofty people of the earth do languish. 24:5The earth also is polluted under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant. 24:6Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are found guilty: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. 24:7The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merry-hearted do sigh. 24:8The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth. 24:9They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. 24:10The waste city is broken down; every house is shut up, that no man may come in. 24:11There is a crying in the streets because of the wine; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. 24:12In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. 24:13For thus shall it be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive-tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done. 24:14These shall lift up their voice, they shall shout; for the majesty of Jehovah they cry aloud from the sea. 24:15Wherefore glorify ye Jehovah in the east, even the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the isles of the sea. 24:16From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs: Glory to the righteous. But I said, I pine away, I pine away, woe is me! the treacherous have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously. 24:17Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. 24:18And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble. 24:19The earth is utterly broken, the earth is rent asunder, the earth is shaken violently. 24:20The earth shall stagger like a drunken man, and shall sway to and fro like a hammock; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it, and it shall fall, and not rise again. 24:21And it shall come to pass in that day, that Jehovah will punish the host of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. 24:22And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison; and after many days shall they be visited. 24:23Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for Jehovah of hosts will reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem; and before his elders shall be glory.
2:1My little children, these things write I unto you that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2:2and he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. 2:3And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 2:4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 2:5but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him: 2:6he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked. 2:7Beloved, no new commandment write I unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning: the old commandment is the word which ye heard. 2:8Again, a new commandment write I unto you, which thing is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shineth. 2:9He that saith he is in the light and hateth his brother, is in the darkness even until now. 2:10He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him. 2:11But he that hateth his brother is in the darkness, and walketh in the darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because the darkness hath blinded his eyes. 2:12I write unto you, my little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. 2:13I write unto you, fathers, because ye know him who is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the evil one. I have written unto you, little children, because ye know the Father. 2:14I have written unto you, fathers, because ye know him who is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the evil one. 2:15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 2:16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 2:17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 2:18Little children, it is the last hour: and as ye heard that antichrist cometh, even now have there arisen many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour. 2:19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they all are not of us. 2:20And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and ye know all the things. 2:21I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 2:22Who is the liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, even he that denieth the Father and the Son. 2:23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that confesseth the Son hath the Father also. 2:24As for you, let that abide in you which ye heard from the beginning. If that which ye heard from the beginning abide in you, ye also shall abide in the Son, and in the Father. 2:25And this is the promise which he promised us, even the life eternal. 2:26These things have I written unto you concerning them that would lead you astray. 2:27And as for you, the anointing which ye received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any one teach you; but as his anointing teacheth you; concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, ye abide in him. 2:28And now, my little children, abide in him; that, if he shall be manifested, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 2:29If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one also that doeth righteousness is begotten of him.
