34:1And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 34:2Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to the borders thereof), 34:3then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the side of Edom, and your south border shall be from the end of the Salt Sea eastward; 34:4and your border shall turn about southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass along to Zin; and the goings out thereof shall be southward of Kadesh-barnea; and it shall go forth to Hazar-addar, and pass along to Azmon; 34:5and the border shall turn about from Azmon unto the brook of Egypt, and the goings out thereof shall be at the sea.
34:6And for the western border, ye shall have the great sea and the border thereof: this shall be your west border.
34:7And this shall be your north border: from the great sea ye shall mark out for you mount Hor; 34:8from mount Hor ye shall mark out unto the entrance of Hamath; and the goings out of the border shall be at Zedad; 34:9and the border shall go forth to Ziphron, and the goings out thereof shall be at Hazar-enan: this shall be your north border.
34:10And ye shall mark out your east border from Hazar-enan to Shepham; 34:11and the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall go down, and shall reach unto the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward; 34:12and the border shall go down to the Jordan, and the goings out thereof shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land according to the borders thereof round about.
34:13And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall inherit by lot, which Jehovah hath commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half-tribe; 34:14for the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their fathers' houses, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to their fathers' houses, have received, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received, their inheritance: 34:15the two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan at Jericho eastward, toward the sunrising.
34:16And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 34:17These are the names of the men that shall divide the land unto you for inheritance: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun. 34:18And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land for inheritance. 34:19And these are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh. 34:20And of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud. 34:21Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon. 34:22And of the tribe of the children of Dan a prince, Bukki the son of Jogli. 34:23Of the children of Joseph: of the tribe of the children of Manasseh a prince, Hanniel the son of Ephod. 34:24And of the tribe of the children of Ephraim a prince, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan. 34:25And of the tribe of the children of Zebulun a prince, Elizaphan the son of Parnach. 34:26And of the tribe of the children of Issachar a prince, Paltiel the son of Azzan. 34:27And of the tribe of the children of Asher a prince, Ahihud the son of Shelomi. 34:28And of the tribe of the children of Naphtali a prince, Pedahel the son of Ammihud. 34:29These are they whom Jehovah commanded to divide the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.
78:38But he, being merciful, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not:
Yea, many a time turned he his anger away,
And did not stir up all his wrath.
78:39And he remembered that they were but flesh,
A wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
78:40How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness,
And grieve him in the desert!
78:41And they turned again and tempted God,
And *provoked the Holy One of Israel.
78:42They remember not his hand,
Nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
78:43How he set his signs in Egypt,
And his wonders in the field of Zoan,
78:44And turned their rivers into blood,
And their streams, so that they could not drink.
78:45He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them;
And frogs, which destroyed them.
78:46He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar,
And their labor unto the locust.
78:47He *destroyed their vines with hail,
And their sycomore-trees with *frost.
78:48He gave over their cattle also to the hail,
And their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
78:49He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger,
Wrath, and indignation, and trouble,
*A band of angels of evil.
78:50He *made a path for his anger;
He spared not their soul from death,
But gave *their life over to the pestilence,
78:51And smote all the first-born in Egypt,
The *chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.
78:52But he led forth his own people like sheep,
And guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
78:53And he led them safely, so that they feared not;
But the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
78:54And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary,
To this *mountain, which his right hand had gotten.
78:55He drove out the nations also before them,
And allotted them for an inheritance by line,
And made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
78:56Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God,
And kept not his testimonies;
78:57But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers:
They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
78:58For they provoked him to anger with their high places,
And moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
78:59When God heard this, he was wroth,
And greatly abhorred Israel;
78:60So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh,
The tent which he placed among men;
78:61And delivered his strength into captivity,
And his glory into the adversary's hand.
78:62He gave his people over also unto the sword,
And was wroth with his inheritance.
78:63Fire devoured their young men;
And their virgins had no marriage-song.
78:64Their priests fell by the sword;
And their widows made no lamentation.
78:65Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep,
Like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
78:66And he smote his adversaries backward:
He put them to a perpetual reproach.
78:67Moreover he refused the tent of Joseph,
And chose not the tribe of Ephraim,
78:68But chose the tribe of Judah,
The mount Zion which he loved.
78:69And he built his sanctuary like the heights,
Like the earth which he hath established for ever.
78:70He chose David also his servant,
And took him from the sheepfolds:
78:71From following the ewes that have their young he brought him,
To be the shepherd of Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
78:72So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart,
And guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.
26:1In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: we have a strong city; salvation will he appoint for walls and bulwarks. 26:2Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth faith may enter in. 26:3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee. 26:4Trust ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jehovah, even Jehovah, is an everlasting rock. 26:5For he hath brought down them that dwell on high, the lofty city: he layeth it low, he layeth it low even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust. 26:6The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy. 26:7The way of the just is uprightness: thou that art upright dost direct the path of the just. 26:8Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Jehovah, have we waited for thee; to thy name, even to thy memorial name, is the desire of our soul. 26:9With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee earnestly: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. 26:10Let favor be showed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness will he deal wrongfully, and will not behold the majesty of Jehovah. 26:11Jehovah, thy hand is lifted up, yet they see not: but they shall see thy zeal for the people, and be put to shame; yea, fire shall devour thine adversaries. 26:12Jehovah, thou wilt ordain peace for us; for thou hast also wrought all our works for us. 26:13O Jehovah our God, other lords besides thee have had dominion over us; but by thee only will we make mention of thy name. 26:14They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all remembrance of them to perish. 26:15Thou hast increased the nation, O Jehovah, thou hast increased the nation; thou art glorified; thou hast enlarged all the borders of the land. 26:16Jehovah, in trouble have they visited thee; they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them. 26:17Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain and crieth out in her pangs; so we have been before thee, O Jehovah. 26:18We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. 26:19Thy dead shall live; my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust; for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast forth the dead. 26:20Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. 26:21For, behold, Jehovah cometh forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
4:1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 4:2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 4:3and every spirit that confesseth not Jesus is not of God: and this is the spirit of the antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is in the world already. 4:4Ye are of God, my little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. 4:5They are of the world: therefore speak they as of the world, and the world heareth them. 4:6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he who is not of God heareth us not. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 4:7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God. 4:8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 4:9Herein was the love of God manifested in us, that God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. 4:10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 4:11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 4:12No man hath beheld God at any time: if we love one another, God abideth in us, and his love is perfected in us: 4:13hereby we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 4:14And we have beheld and bear witness that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 4:15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God. 4:16And we know and have believed the love which God hath in us. God is love; and he that abideth in love abideth in God, and God abideth in him. 4:17Herein is love made perfect with us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as he is, even so are we in this world. 4:18There is no fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment; and he that feareth is not made perfect in love. 4:19We love, because he first loved us. 4:20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, cannot love God whom he hath not seen. 4:21And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also.
