8:1Now in the things which we are saying the chief point is this: We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 8:2a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man. 8:3For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is necessary that this high priest also have somewhat to offer. 8:4Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, seeing there are those who offer the gifts according to the law; 8:5who serve that which is a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses is warned of God when he is about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern that was showed thee in the mount. 8:6But now hath he obtained a ministry the more excellent, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which hath been enacted upon better promises. 8:7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a second. 8:8For finding fault with them, he saith,
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord,
That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
8:9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers
In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt;
For they continued not in my covenant,
And I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
8:10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
After those days, saith the Lord;
I will put my laws into their mind,
And on their heart also will I write them:
And I will be to them a God,
And they shall be to me a people:
8:11And they shall not teach every man his fellow-citizen,
And every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord:
For all shall know me,
From the least to the greatest of them.
8:12For I will be merciful to their iniquities,
And their sins will I remember no more.
8:13In that he saith, A new covenant he hath made the first old. But that which is becoming old and waxeth aged is nigh unto vanishing away.
2:1Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime: 2:2but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet; 2:3and I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith Jehovah. 2:4Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have rejected the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers did walk: 2:5but I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem. 2:6Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes- 2:7they that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father go unto the same maiden, to profane my holy name: 2:8and they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined. 2:9Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath. 2:10Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. 2:11And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith Jehovah. 2:12But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not. 2:13Behold, I will press you in your place, as a cart presseth that is full of sheaves. 2:14And flight shall perish from the swift; and the strong shall not strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself; 2:15neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself; neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself; 2:16and he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith Jehovah.
A Psalm of praise; of David.
145:1I will extol thee, my God, O King;
And I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
145:2Every day will I bless thee;
And I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
145:3Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised;
And his greatness is unsearchable.
145:4One generation shall laud thy works to another,
And shall declare thy mighty acts.
145:5Of the glorious majesty of thine honor,
And of thy wondrous works, will I meditate.
145:6And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts;
And I will declare thy greatness.
145:7They shall utter the memory of thy great goodness,
And shall sing of thy righteousness.
145:8Jehovah is gracious, and merciful;
Slow to anger, and of great lovingkindness.
145:9Jehovah is good to all;
And his tender mercies are over all his works.
145:10All thy works shall give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah;
And thy saints shall bless thee.
145:11They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom,
And talk of thy power;
145:12To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts,
And the glory of the majesty of his kingdom.
145:13Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
145:14Jehovah upholdeth all that fall,
And raiseth up all those that are bowed down.
145:15The eyes of all wait for thee;
And thou givest them their food in due season.
145:16Thou openest thy hand,
And satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
145:17Jehovah is righteous in all his ways,
And gracious in all his works.
145:18Jehovah is nigh unto all them that call upon him,
To all that call upon him in truth.
145:19He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him;
He also will hear their cry and will save them.
145:20Jehovah preserveth all them that love him;
But all the wicked will he destroy.
145:21My mouth shall speak the praise of Jehovah;
And let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.
