Hebrews

9:1Now even a first covenant had ordinances of divine service, and its sanctuary, a sanctuary of this world. 9:2For there was a tabernacle prepared, the first, wherein were the candlestick, and the table, and the showbread; which is called the Holy place. 9:3And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holy of holies; 9:4having a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was a golden pot holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; 9:5and above it cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy-seat; of which things we cannot now speak severally. 9:6Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services; 9:7but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offereth for himself, and for the errors of the people: 9:8the Holy Spirit this signifying, that the way into the holy place hath not yet been made manifest, while the first tabernacle is yet standing; 9:9which is a figure for the time present; according to which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect, 9:10being only (with meats and drinks and divers washings) carnal ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation. 9:11But Christ having come a high priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, 9:12nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption. 9:13For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh: 9:14how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 9:15And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they that have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 9:16For where a testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him that made it. 9:17For a testament is of force where there hath been death: for it doth never avail while he that made it liveth. 9:18Wherefore even the first covenant hath not been dedicated without blood. 9:19For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses unto all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 9:20saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded to you-ward. 9:21Moreover the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry he sprinkled in like manner with the blood. 9:22And according to the law, I may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission. 9:23It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 9:24For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us: 9:25nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place year by year with blood not his own; 9:26else must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once at the end of the ages hath he been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 9:27And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this cometh judgment; 9:28so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation.

Amos

3:1Hear this word that Jehovah hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying, 3:2You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will visit upon you all your iniquities. 3:3Shall two walk together, except they have agreed? 3:4Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? 3:5Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is set for him? shall a snare spring up from the ground, and have taken nothing at all? 3:6Shall the trumpet be blown in a city, and the people not be afraid? shall evil befall a city, and Jehovah hath not done it? 3:7Surely the Lord Jehovah will do nothing, except he reveal his secret unto his servants the prophets. 3:8The lion hath roared; who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken; who can but prophesy? 3:9Publish ye in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold what great tumults are therein, and what oppressions in the midst thereof. 3:10For they know not to do right, saith Jehovah, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces. 3:11Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An adversary there shall be, even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be plundered. 3:12Thus saith Jehovah: As the shepherd rescueth out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued that sit in Samaria in the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed. 3:13Hear ye, and testify against the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Jehovah, the God of hosts. 3:14For in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also visit the altars of Beth-el; and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground. 3:15And I will smite the winter-house with the summer-house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith Jehovah.

Psalms

 146:1Praise ye Jehovah.

 Praise Jehovah, O my soul.

 146:2While I live will I praise Jehovah:

 I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

 146:3Put not your trust in princes,

 Nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

 146:4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth;

 In that very day his thoughts perish.

 146:5Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help,

 Whose hope is in Jehovah his God:

 146:6Who made heaven and earth,

 The sea, and all that in them is;

 Who keepeth truth for ever;

 146:7Who executeth justice for the oppressed;

 Who giveth food to the hungry.

 Jehovah looseth the prisoners;

 146:8Jehovah openeth the eyes of the blind;

 Jehovah raiseth up them that are bowed down;

 Jehovah loveth the righteous;

 146:9Jehovah preserveth the sojourners;

 He upholdeth the fatherless and widow;

 But the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

 146:10Jehovah will reign for ever,

 Thy God, O Zion, unto all generations.

 Praise ye Jehovah.

Psalm 147

 147:1Praise ye Jehovah;

 For it is good to sing praises unto our God;

 For it is pleasant, and praise is comely.

 147:2Jehovah doth build up Jerusalem;

 He gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

 147:3He healeth the broken in heart,

 And bindeth up their wounds.

 147:4He counteth the number of the stars;

 He calleth them all by their names.

 147:5Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;

 His understanding is infinite.

 147:6Jehovah upholdeth the meek:

 He bringeth the wicked down to the ground.

 147:7Sing unto Jehovah with thanksgiving;

 Sing praises upon the harp unto our God,

 147:8Who covereth the heavens with clouds,

 Who prepareth rain for the earth,

 Who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

 147:9He giveth to the beast his food,

 And to the young ravens which cry.

 147:10He delighteth not in the strength of the horse:

 He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man.

 147:11Jehovah taketh pleasure in them that fear him,

 In those that hope in his lovingkindness.

 147:12Praise Jehovah, O Jerusalem;

 Praise thy God, O Zion.

 147:13For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates;

 He hath blessed thy children within thee.

 147:14He maketh peace in thy borders;

 He filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.

 147:15He sendeth out his commandment upon earth;

 His word runneth very swiftly.

 147:16He giveth snow like wool;

 He scattereth the hoar-frost like ashes.

 147:17He casteth forth his ice like morsels:

 Who can stand before his cold?

 147:18He sendeth out his word, and melteth them:

 He causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

 147:19He showeth his word unto Jacob,

 His statutes and his ordinances unto Israel.

 147:20He hath not dealt so with any nation;

 And as for his ordinances, they have not known them.

 Praise ye Jehovah.
