1 Chronicles

18:1And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines. 18:2And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

18:3And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates. 18:4And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hocked all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.

18:5And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadarezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. 18:6Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went. 18:7And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 18:8And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadarezer, David took very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

18:9And when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah, 18:10he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had wars with Tou;) and he had with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass. 18:11These also did king David dedicate unto Jehovah, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

18:12Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah smote of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand. 18:13And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.

18:14And David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness unto all his people. 18:15And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 18:16and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe; 18:17and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

James

5:1Come now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you. 5:2Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. 5:3Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have laid up your treasure in the last days. 5:4Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. 5:5Ye have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure; ye have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter. 5:6Ye have condemned, ye have killed the righteous one; he doth not resist you. 5:7Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receive the early and latter rain. 5:8Be ye also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 5:9Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged: behold, the judge standeth before the doors. 5:10Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord. 5:11Behold, we call them blessed that endured: ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, how that the Lord is full of pity, and merciful. 5:12But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under judgment. 5:13Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praise. 5:14Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 5:15and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him. 5:16Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working. 5:17Elijah was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months. 5:18And he prayed again; and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. 5:19My brethren, if any among you err from the truth, and one convert him; 5:20let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.

Jonah

2:1Then Jonah prayed unto Jehovah his God out of the fish's belly. 2:2And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction unto Jehovah, And he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, And thou heardest my voice. 2:3For thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, And the flood was round about me; All thy waves and thy billows passed over me. 2:4And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. 2:5The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; The deep was round about me; The weeds were wrapped about my head. 2:6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed upon me for ever: Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God. 2:7When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; And my prayer came in unto thee, into thy holy temple. 2:8They that regard lying vanities Forsake their own mercy. 2:9But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah. 2:10And Jehovah spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

Luke

7:1After he had ended all his sayings in the ears of the people, he entered into Capernaum. 7:2And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick and at the point of death. 7:3And when he heard concerning Jesus, he sent unto him elders of the Jews, asking him that he would come and save his servant. 7:4And they, when they came to Jesus, besought him earnestly, saying, He is worthy that thou shouldest do this for him; 7:5for he loveth our nation, and himself built us our synagogue. 7:6And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself; for I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: 7:7wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say the word, and my servant shall be healed. 7:8For I also am a man set under authority, having under myself soldiers: and I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 7:9And when Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned and said unto the multitude that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 7:10And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole. 7:11And it came to pass soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain; and his disciples went with him, and a great multitude. 7:12Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, there was carried out one that was dead, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 7:13And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 7:14And he came nigh and touched the bier: and the bearers stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 7:15And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother. 7:16And fear took hold on all: and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet is arisen among us: and, God hath visited his people. 7:17And this report went forth concerning him in the whole of Judaea, and all the region round about. 7:18And the disciples of John told him of all these things. 7:19And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to the Lord, saying, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another? 7:20And when the men were come unto him, they said, John the Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another? 7:21In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and on many that were blind he bestowed sight. 7:22And he answered and said unto them, Go and tell John the things which ye have seen and heard; the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the poor have good tidings preached to them. 7:23And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me. 7:24And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to behold? a reed shaken with the wind? 7:25But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. 7:26But what went ye out to see? a prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. 7:27This is he of whom it is written,

Behold, I send my messenger before thy face,

Who shall prepare thy way before thee.

7:28I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there is none greater than John: yet he that is but little in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 7:29And all the people when they heard, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 7:30But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected for themselves the counsel of God, being not baptized of him. 7:31Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation, and to what are they like? 7:32They are like unto children that sit in the marketplace, and call one to another; who say, We piped unto you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not weep. 7:33For John the Baptist is come eating no bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon. 7:34The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! 7:35And wisdom is justified of all her children. 7:36And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he entered into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 7:37And behold, a woman who was in the city, a sinner; and when she knew that he was sitting at meat in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster cruse of ointment, 7:38and standing behind at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. 7:39Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner. 7:40And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Teacher, say on. 7:41A certain lender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred shillings, and the other fifty. 7:42When they had not wherewith to pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most? 7:43Simon answered and said, He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. 7:44And turning to the woman, he said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath wetted my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair. 7:45Thou gavest me no kiss: but she, since the time I came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet. 7:46My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but she hath anointed my feet with ointment. 7:47Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. 7:48And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 7:49And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins? 7:50And he said unto the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
