1 Chronicles

23:1Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel. 23:2And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites. 23:3And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand. 23:4Of these, twenty and four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah; and six thousand were officers and judges; 23:5and four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised Jehovah with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith. 23:6And David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

23:7Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei. 23:8The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three. 23:9The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers' houses of Ladan. 23:10And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei. 23:11And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they became a fathers' house in one reckoning.

23:12The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four. 23:13The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, for ever, to burn incense before Jehovah, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, for ever. 23:14But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi. 23:15The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer. 23:16The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief. 23:17And the sons of Eliezer were: Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many. 23:18The sons of Izhar: Shelomith the chief. 23:19The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. 23:20The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.

23:21The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish. 23:22And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them to wife. 23:23The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

23:24These were the sons of Levi after their fathers' houses, even the heads of the fathers' houses of those of them that were counted, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the house of Jehovah, from twenty years old and upward. 23:25For David said, Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath given rest unto his people; and he dwelleth in Jerusalem for ever: 23:26and also the Levites shall no more have need to carry the tabernacle and all the vessels of it for the service thereof. 23:27For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward. 23:28For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God; 23:29for the showbread also, and for the fine flour for a meal-offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all manner of measure and size; 23:30and to stand every morning to thank and praise Jehovah, and likewise at even; 23:31and to offer all burnt-offerings unto Jehovah, on the sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Jehovah; 23:32and that they should keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, for the service of the house of Jehovah.

1 Peter

4:1Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 4:2that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 4:3For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries: 4:4wherein they think strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of of: 4:5who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. 4:6For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 4:7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer: 4:8above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins: 4:9using hospitality one to another without murmuring: 4:10according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God; 4:11if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; is any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 4:12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you: 4:13but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy. 4:14If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you. 4:15For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters: 4:16but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name. 4:17For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God? 4:18And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear? 4:19Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.

Micah

2:1Woe to them that devise iniquity and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. 2:2And they covet fields, and seize them; and houses, and take them away: and they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage. 2:3Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks, neither shall ye walk haughtily; for it is an evil time. 2:4In that day shall they take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We are utterly ruined: he changeth the portion of my people: how doth he remove it from me! to the rebellious he divideth our fields. 2:5Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast the line by lot in the assembly of Jehovah. 2:6Prophesy ye not, thus they prophesy. They shall not prophesy to these: reproaches shall not depart. 2:7Shall it be said, O house of Jacob, Is the Spirit of Jehovah straitened? are these his doings? Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly? 2:8But of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye strip the robe from off the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war. 2:9The women of my people ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their young children ye take away my glory for ever. 2:10Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your resting-place; because of uncleanness that destroyeth, even with a grievous destruction. 2:11If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people. 2:12I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as a flock in the midst of their pasture; they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. 2:13The breaker is gone up before them: they have broken forth and passed on to the gate, and are gone out thereat; and their king is passed on before them, and Jehovah at the head of them.

Luke

11:1And it came to pass, as he was praying in a certain place, that when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples. 11:2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Father, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. 11:3Give us day by day our daily bread. 11:4And forgive us our sins; for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation. 11:5And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 11:6for a friend of mine is come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him; 11:7and he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee? 11:8I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will arise and give him as many as he needeth. 11:9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 11:10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11:11And of which of you that is a father shall his son ask a loaf, and he give him a stone? or a fish, and he for a fish give him a serpent? 11:12Or if he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion? 11:13If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? 11:14And he was casting out a demon that was dumb. And it came to pass, when the demon was gone out, the dumb man spake; and the multitudes marvelled. 11:15But some of them said, By Beelzebub the prince of the demons casteth he out demons. 11:16And others, trying him, sought of him a sign from heaven. 11:17But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. 11:18And if Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out demons by Beelzebub. 11:19And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. 11:20But if I by the finger of God cast out demons, then is the kingdom of God come upon you. 11:21When the strong man fully armed guardeth his own court, his goods are in peace: 11:22but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him his whole armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. 11:23He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. 11:24The unclean spirit when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and finding none, he saith, I will turn back unto my house whence I came out. 11:25And when he is come, he findeth it swept and garnished. 11:26Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more evil than himself; and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first. 11:27And it came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck. 11:28But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. 11:29And when the multitudes were gathering together unto him, he began to say, This generation is an evil generation: it seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah. 11:30For even as Jonah became a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. 11:31The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 11:32The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. 11:33No man, when he hath lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, neither under the bushel, but on the stand, that they which enter in may see the light. 11:34The lamp of thy body is thine eye: when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when it is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 11:35Look therefore whether the light that is in thee be not darkness. 11:36If therefore thy whole body be full of light, having no part dark, it shall be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining doth give thee light. 11:37Now as he spake, a Pharisee asketh him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. 11:38And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first bathed himself before dinner. 11:39And the Lord said unto him, Now ye the Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness. 11:40Ye foolish ones, did not he that made the outside make the inside also? 11:41But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, all things are clean unto you. 11:42But woe unto you Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over justice and the love of God: but these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. 11:43Woe unto you Pharisees! for ye love the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the marketplaces. 11:44Woe unto you! for ye are as the tombs which appear not, and the men that walk over them know it not. 11:45And one of the lawyers answering saith unto him, Teacher, in saying this thou reproachest us also. 11:46And he said, Woe unto you lawyers also! for ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. 11:47Woe unto you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 11:48So ye are witnesses and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build their tombs. 11:49Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they shall kill and persecute; 11:50that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; 11:51from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary: yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation. 11:52Woe unto you lawyers! for ye took away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. 11:53And when he was come out from thence, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press upon him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things; 11:54laying wait for him, to catch something out of his mouth.
