1 Kings

14:1At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick. 14:2And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, who spake concerning me that I should be king over this people. 14:3And take with thee ten loaves, and cakes, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he will tell thee what shall become of the child. 14:4And Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age. 14:5And Jehovah said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to inquire of thee concerning her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her; for it will be, when she cometh in, that she will feign herself to be another woman.

14:6And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings. 14:7Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel, 14:8and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee; and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes, 14:9but hast done evil above all that were before thee, and hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back: 14:10therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every man-child, him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweepeth away dung, till it be all gone. 14:11Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the birds of the heavens eat: for Jehovah hath spoken it. 14:12Arise thou therefore, get thee to thy house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die. 14:13And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam. 14:14Moreover Jehovah will raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now. 14:15For Jehovah will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking Jehovah to anger. 14:16And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he hath sinned, and wherewith he hath made Israel to sin.

14:17And Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and as she came to the threshold of the house, the child died. 14:18And all Israel buried him, and mourned for him, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

14:19And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 14:20And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.

14:21And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. 14:22And Judah did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done. 14:23For they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every green tree; 14:24and there were also sodomites in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which Jehovah drove out before the children of Israel.

14:25And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem; 14:26and he took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made. 14:27And king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house. 14:28And it was so, that, as oft as the king went into the house of Jehovah, the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.

14:29Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 14:30And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually. 14:31And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.

Colossians

1:1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother, 1:2To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ that are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father. 1:3We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 1:4having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have toward all the saints, 1:5because of the hope which is laid up for you in the heavens, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 1:6which is come unto you; even as it is also in all the world bearing fruit and increasing, as it doth in you also, since the day ye heard and knew the grace of God in truth; 1:7even as ye learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow-servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, 1:8who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit. 1:9For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray and make request for you, that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 1:10to walk worthily of the Lord unto all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 1:11strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, unto all patience and longsuffering with joy; 1:12giving thanks unto the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; 1:13who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love; 1:14in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins: 1:15who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 1:16for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him; 1:17and he is before all things, and in him all things consist. 1:18And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 1:19For it was the good pleasure of the Father that in him should all the fulness dwell; 1:20and through him to reconcile all things unto himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, I say, whether things upon the earth, or things in the heavens. 1:21And you, being in time past alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil works, 1:22yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and unreproveable before him: 1:23if so be that ye continue in the faith, grounded and stedfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel which ye heard, which was preached in all creation under heaven; whereof I Paul was made a minister. 1:24Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church; 1:25whereof I was made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which was given me to you-ward, to fulfil the word of God, 1:26even the mystery which hath been hid for ages and generations: but now hath it been manifested to his saints, 1:27to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 1:28whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ; 1:29whereunto I labor also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Ezekiel

44:1Then he brought me back by the way of the outer gate of the sanctuary, which looketh toward the east; and it was shut. 44:2And Jehovah said unto me, This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, neither shall any man enter in by it; for Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it; therefore it shall be shut. 44:3As for the prince, he shall sit therein as prince to eat bread before Jehovah; he shall enter by the way of the porch of the gate, and shall go out by the way of the same. 44:4Then he brought me by the way of the north gate before the house; and I looked, and, behold, the glory of Jehovah filled the house of Jehovah: and I fell upon my face. 44:5And Jehovah said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of Jehovah, and all the laws thereof; and mark well the entrance of the house, with every egress of the sanctuary. 44:6And thou shalt say to the rebellious, even to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: O ye house of Israel, let it suffice you of all your abominations, 44:7in that ye have brought in foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to profane it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant, to add unto all your abominations. 44:8And ye have not kept the charge of my holy things; but ye have set keepers of my charge in my sanctuary for yourselves. 44:9Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, No foreigner, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any foreigners that are among the children of Israel. 44:10But the Levites that went far from me, when Israel went astray, that went astray from me after their idols, they shall bear their iniquity. 44:11Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having oversight at the gates of the house, and ministering in the house: they shall slay the burnt-offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them. 44:12Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and became a stumblingblock of iniquity unto the house of Israel; therefore have I lifted up my hand against them, saith the Lord Jehovah, and they shall bear their iniquity. 44:13And they shall not come near unto me, to execute the office of priest unto me, nor to come near to any of my holy things, unto the things that are most holy; but they shall bear their shame, and their abominations which they have committed. 44:14Yet will I make them keepers of the charge of the house, for all the service thereof, and for all that shall be done therein. 44:15But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me; and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord Jehovah: 44:16they shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table, to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge. 44:17And it shall be that, when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, while they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within. 44:18They shall have linen tires upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with anything that causeth sweat. 44:19And when they go forth into the outer court, even into the outer court to the people, they shall put off their garments wherein they minister, and lay them in the holy chambers; and they shall put on other garments, that they sanctify not the people with their garments. 44:20Neither shall they shave their heads, nor suffer their locks to grow long; they shall only cut off the hair of their heads. 44:21Neither shall any of the priests drink wine, when they enter into the inner court. 44:22Neither shall they take for their wives a widow, nor her that is put away; but they shall take virgins of the seed of the house of Israel, or a widow that is the widow of a priest. 44:23And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. 44:24And in a controversy they shall stand to judge; according to mine ordinances shall they judge it: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all my appointed feasts; and they shall hallow my sabbaths. 44:25And they shall go in to no dead person to defile themselves; but for father, or for mother, or for son, or for daughter, for brother, or for sister that hath had no husband, they may defile themselves. 44:26And after he is cleansed, they shall reckon unto him seven days. 44:27And in the day that he goeth into the sanctuary, into the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin-offering, saith the Lord Jehovah. 44:28And they shall have an inheritance: I am their inheritance; and ye shall give them no possession in Israel; I am their possession. 44:29They shall eat the meal-offering, and the sin-offering, and the trespass-offering; and every devoted thing in Israel shall be theirs. 44:30And the first of all the first-fruits of every thing, and every oblation of everything, of all your oblations, shall be for the priest: ye shall also give unto the priests the first of your dough, to cause a blessing to rest on thy house. 44:31The priests shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself, or is torn, whether it be bird or beast.

Psalms

97:1Jehovah reigneth; let the earth rejoice;

 Let the multitude of isles be glad.

 97:2Clouds and darkness are round about him:

 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

 97:3A fire goeth before him,

 And burneth up his adversaries round about.

 97:4His lightnings lightened the world:

 The earth saw, and trembled.

 97:5The mountains melted like wax at the presence of Jehovah,

 At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

 97:6The heavens declare his righteousness,

 And all the peoples have seen his glory.

 97:7Let all them be put to shame that serve graven images,

 That boast themselves of idols:

 Worship him, all ye gods.

 97:8Zion heard and was glad,

 And the daughters of Judah rejoiced,

 Because of thy judgments, O Jehovah.

 97:9For thou, Jehovah, art most high above all the earth:

 Thou art exalted far above all gods.

 97:10O ye that love Jehovah, hate evil:

 He preserveth the souls of his saints;

 He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

 97:11Light is sown for the righteous,

 And gladness for the upright in heart.

 97:12Be glad in Jehovah, ye righteous;

 And give thanks to his holy memorial name.

Psalm 98

A Psalm.

 98:1Oh sing unto Jehovah a new song;

 For he hath done marvellous things:

 His right hand, and his holy arm, hath wrought salvation for him.

 98:2Jehovah hath made known his salvation:

 His righteousness hath he openly showed in the sight of the nations.

 98:3He hath remembered his lovingkindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel:

 All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

 98:4Make a joyful noise unto Jehovah, all the earth:

 Break forth and sing for joy, yea, sing praises.

 98:5Sing praises unto Jehovah with the harp;

 With the harp and the voice of melody.

 98:6With trumpets and sound of cornet

 Make a joyful noise before the King, Jehovah.

 98:7Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof;

 The world, and they that dwell therein;

 98:8Let the floods clap their hands;

 Let the hills sing for joy together

 98:9Before Jehovah; for he cometh to judge the earth:

 He will judge the world with righteousness,

 And the peoples with equity.
