3:1Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years. 3:2And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, but not like his father, and like his mother; for he put away the pillar of Baal that his father had made. 3:3Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.
3:4Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep-master; and he rendered unto the king of Israel the wool of a hundred thousand lambs, and of a hundred thousand rams. 3:5But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel. 3:6And king Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time, and mustered all Israel. 3:7And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses. 3:8And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way of the wilderness of Edom. 3:9So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, nor for the beasts that followed them. 3:10And the king of Israel said, Alas! for Jehovah hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab. 3:11But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah. 3:12And Jehoshaphat said, The word of Jehovah is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
3:13And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay; for Jehovah hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab. 3:14And Elisha said, As Jehovah of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee. 3:15But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of Jehovah came upon him. 3:16And he said, Thus saith Jehovah, Make this valley full of trenches. 3:17For thus saith Jehovah, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, and ye shall drink, both ye and your cattle and your beasts. 3:18And this is but a light thing in the sight of Jehovah: he will also deliver the Moabites into your hand. 3:19And ye shall smite every fortified city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all fountains of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones. 3:20And it came to pass in the morning, about the time of offering the oblation, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
3:21Now when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered themselves together, all that were able to put on armor, and upward, and stood on the border. 3:22And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water over against them as red as blood: 3:23and they said, This is blood; the kings are surely destroyed, and they have smitten each man his fellow: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil. 3:24And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land smiting the Moabites. 3:25And they beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land they cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the fountains of water, and felled all the good trees, until in Kir-hareseth only they left the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it. 3:26And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew sword, to break through unto the king of Edom; but they could not. 3:27Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt-offering upon the wall. And there was great wrath against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
3:1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, even as also it is with you; 3:2and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for all have not faith. 3:3But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and guard you from the evil one. 3:4And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command. 3:5And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ. 3:6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which they received of us. 3:7For yourselves know how ye ought to imitate us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 3:8neither did we eat bread for nought at any man's hand, but in labor and travail, working night and day, that we might not burden any of you: 3:9not because we have not the right, but to make ourselves and ensample unto you, that ye should imitate us. 3:10For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, If any will not work, neither let him eat. 3:11For we hear of some that walk among you disorderly, that work not at all, but are busybodies. 3:12Now them that are such we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. 3:13But ye, brethren, be not weary in well-doing. 3:14And if any man obeyeth not our word by this epistle, note that man, that ye have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed. 3:15And yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 3:16Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all. 3:17The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. 3:18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
7:1In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters. 7:2Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of heaven brake forth upon the great sea. 7:3And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 7:4The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand upon two feet as a man; and a man's heart was given to it. 7:5And, behold, another beast, a second, like to a bear; and it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. 7:6After this I beheld, and, lo, another, like a leopard, which had upon its back four wings of a bird; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. 7:7After this I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, a fourth beast, terrible and powerful, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth; it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. 7:8I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things. 7:9I beheld till thrones were placed, and one that was ancient of days did sit: his raiment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, and the wheels thereof burning fire. 7:10A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousands of thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 7:11I beheld at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake; I beheld even till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire. 7:12And as for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time. 7:13I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven one like unto a son of man, and he came even to the ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 7:14And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. 7:15As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 7:16I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. 7:17These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, that shall arise out of the earth. 7:18But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever. 7:19Then I desired to know the truth concerning the fourth beast, which was diverse from all of them, exceeding terrible, whose teeth were of iron, and its nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet; 7:20and concerning the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, and before which three fell, even that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake great things, whose look was more stout than its fellows. 7:21I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 7:22until the ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. 7:23Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. 7:24And as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom shall ten kings arise: and another shall arise after them; and he shall be diverse from the former, and he shall put down three kings. 7:25And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time. 7:26But the judgment shall be set, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 7:27And the kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. 7:28Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts much troubled me, and my countenance was changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
114:1When Israel went forth out of Egypt,
The house of Jacob from a people of strange language;
114:2Judah became his sanctuary,
Israel his dominion.
114:3The sea saw it, and fled;
The Jordan was driven back.
114:4The mountains skipped like rams,
The little hills like lambs.
114:5What aileth thee, O thou sea, that thou fleest?
Thou Jordan, that thou turnest back?
114:6Ye mountains, that ye skip like rams;
Ye little hills, like lambs?
114:7Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the God of Jacob,
114:8Who turned the rock into a pool of water,
The flint into a fountain of waters.
115:1Not unto us, O Jehovah, not unto us,
But unto thy name give glory,
For thy lovingkindness, and for thy truth's sake.
115:2Wherefore should the nations say,
Where is now their God?
115:3But our God is in the heavens:
He hath done whatsoever he pleased.
115:4Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of men's hands.
115:5They have mouths, but they speak not;
Eyes have they, but they see not;
115:6They have ears, but they hear not;
Noses have they, but they smell not;
115:7They have hands, but they handle not;
Feet have they, but they walk not;
Neither speak they through their throat.
115:8They that make them shall be like unto them;
Yea, every one that trusteth in them.
115:9O Israel, trust thou in Jehovah:
He is their help and their shield.
115:10O house of Aaron, trust ye in Jehovah:
He is their help and their shield.
115:11Ye that fear Jehovah, trust in Jehovah:
He is their help and their shield.
115:12Jehovah hath been mindful of us; he will bless us:
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
115:13He will bless them that fear Jehovah,
Both small and great.
115:14Jehovah increase you more and more,
You and your children.
115:15Blessed are ye of Jehovah,
Who made heaven and earth.
115:16The heavens are the heavens of Jehovah;
But the earth hath he given to the children of men.
115:17The dead praise not Jehovah,
Neither any that go down into silence;
115:18But we will bless Jehovah
From this time forth and for evermore.
*Praise ye Jehovah.
