4:1Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear Jehovah: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two children to be bondmen. 4:2And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me; what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thy handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil. 4:3Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 4:4And thou shalt go in, and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and thou shalt set aside that which is full. 4:5So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons; they brought the vessels to her, and she poured out. 4:6And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. 4:7Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy sons of the rest.
4:8And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. 4:9And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, that passeth by us continually. 4:10Let us make, I pray thee, a little chamber on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a seat, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. 4:11And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber and lay there. 4:12And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him. 4:13And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people. 4:14And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no son, and her husband is old. 4:15And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door. 4:16And he said, At this season, when the time cometh round, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thy handmaid.
4:17And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season, when the time came round, as Elisha had said unto her. 4:18And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers. 4:19And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to his servant, Carry him to his mother. 4:20And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. 4:21And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out. 4:22And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the servants, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again. 4:23And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to-day? it is neither new moon nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well. 4:24Then she saddled an ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward; slacken me not the riding, except I bid thee. 4:25So she went, and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel.
And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is the Shunammite: 4:26run, I pray thee, now to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well. 4:27And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. And Gehazi came near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, Let her alone: for her soul is vexed within her; and Jehovah hath hid it from me, and hath not told me. 4:28Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me? 4:29Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thy hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child. 4:30And the mother of the child said, As Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her. 4:31And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he returned to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked.
4:32And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed. 4:33He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto Jehovah. 4:34And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon him; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. 4:35Then he returned, and walked in the house once to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. 4:36And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in unto him, he said, Take up thy son. 4:37Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground; and she took up her son, and went out.
4:38And Elisha came again to Gilgal. And there was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and boil pottage for the sons of the prophets. 4:39And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage; for they knew them not. 4:40So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof. 4:41But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.
4:42And there came a man from Baal-shalishah, and brought the man of God bread of the first-fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and fresh ears of grain in his sack. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat. 4:43And his servant said, What, should I set this before a hundred men? But he said, Give the people, that they may eat; for thus saith Jehovah, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof. 4:44So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of Jehovah.
1:1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and Christ Jesus our hope; 1:2unto Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 1:3As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine, 1:4neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questionings, rather than a dispensation of God which is in faith; so do I now. 1:5But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned: 1:6from which things some having swerved have turned aside unto vain talking; 1:7desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm. 1:8But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully, 1:9as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10for fornicators, for abusers of themselves with men, for menstealers, for liars, for false swearers, and if there be any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine; 1:11according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. 1:12I thank him that enabled me, even Christ Jesus our Lord, for that he counted me faithful, appointing me to his service; 1:13though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief; 1:14and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 1:15Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief: 1:16howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ show forth all his longsuffering, for an ensample of them that should thereafter believe on him unto eternal life. 1:17Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 1:18This charge I commit unto thee, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to thee, that by them thou mayest war the good warfare; 1:19holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust from them made shipwreck concerning the faith: 1:20of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I delivered unto Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.
8:1In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me, Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first. 8:2And I saw in the vision; now it was so, that when I saw, I was in Shushan the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in the vision, and I was by the river Ulai. 8:3Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last. 8:4I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; and no beasts could stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and magnified himself. 8:5And as I was considering, behold, a he-goat came from the west over the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. 8:6And he came to the ram that had the two horns, which I saw standing before the river, and ran upon him in the fury of his power. 8:7And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with anger against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him; but he cast him down to the ground, and trampled upon him; and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand. 8:8And the he-goat magnified himself exceedingly: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and instead of it there came up four notable horns toward the four winds of heaven. 8:9And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the glorious land. 8:10And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and some of the host and of the stars it cast down to the ground, and trampled upon them. 8:11Yea, it magnified itself, even to the prince of the host; and it took away from him the continual burnt-offering, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. 8:12And the host was given over to it together with the continual burnt-offering through transgression; and it cast down truth to the ground, and it did its pleasure and prospered. 8:13Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said unto that certain one who spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual burnt-offering, and the transgression that maketh desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? 8:14And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. 8:15And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, that I sought to understand it; and, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man. 8:16And I heard a man's voice between the banks of the Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. 8:17So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was affrighted, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man; for the vision belongeth to the time of the end. 8:18Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground; but he touched me, and set me upright. 8:19And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the latter time of the indignation; for it belongeth to the appointed time of the end. 8:20The ram which thou sawest, that had the two horns, they are the kings of Media and Persia. 8:21And the rough he-goat is the king of Greece: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. 8:22And as for that which was broken, in the place whereof four stood up, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not with his power. 8:23And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. 8:24And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper and do his pleasure; and he shall destroy the mighty ones and the holy people. 8:25And through his policy he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and in their security shall he destroy many: he shall also stand up against the prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. 8:26And the vision of the evenings and mornings which hath been told is true: but shut thou up the vision; for it belongeth to many days to come. 8:27And I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick certain days; then I rose up, and did the king's business: and I wondered at the vision, but none understood it.
116:1I love Jehovah, because he heareth
My voice and my supplications.
116:2Because he hath inclined his ear unto me,
Therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
116:3The cords of death compassed me,
And the pains of Sheol *gat hold upon me:
I found trouble and sorrow.
116:4Then called I upon the name of Jehovah:
O Jehovah, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
116:5Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous;
Yea, our God is merciful.
116:6Jehovah preserveth the simple:
I was brought low, and he saved me.
116:7Return unto thy rest, O my soul;
For Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.
116:8For thou hast delivered my soul from death,
Mine eyes from tears,
And my feet from falling.
116:9I will walk before Jehovah
In the land of the living.
116:10I *believe, for I will speak:
I was greatly afflicted:
All men are liars.
116:12What shall I render unto Jehovah
For all his benefits toward me?
116:13I will take the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of Jehovah.
116:14I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,
Yea, in the presence of all his people.
116:15Precious in the sight of Jehovah
Is the death of his saints.
116:16O Jehovah, truly I am thy servant:
I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid;
Thou hast loosed my bonds.
116:17I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And will call upon the name of Jehovah.
116:18I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,
Yea, in the presence of all his people,
116:19In the courts of Jehovah's house,
In the midst of thee, O Jerusalem.
*Praise ye Jehovah.
