5:1Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him Jehovah had given victory unto Syria: he was also a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper. 5:2And the Syrians had gone out in bands, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maiden; and she waited on Naaman's wife. 5:3And she said unto her mistress, Would that my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! then would he recover him of his leprosy. 5:4And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maiden that is of the land of Israel. 5:5And the king of Syria said, Go now, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. 5:6And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, And now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy. 5:7And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? but consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
5:8And it was so, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel. 5:9So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariots, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. 5:10And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 5:11But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of Jehovah his God, and wave his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 5:12Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. 5:13And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? 5:14Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
5:15And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him; and he said, Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a present of thy servant. 5:16But he said, As Jehovah liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused. 5:17And Naaman said, If not, yet, I pray thee, let there be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth; for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt-offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto Jehovah. 5:18In this thing Jehovah pardon thy servant: when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, when I bow myself in the house of Rimmon, Jehovah pardon thy servant in this thing. 5:19And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.
5:20But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared this Naaman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: as Jehovah liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him. 5:21So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw one running after him, he alighted from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well? 5:22And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there are come to me from the hill-country of Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets; give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of raiment. 5:23And Naaman said, Be pleased to take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of raiment, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him. 5:24And when he came to the hill, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house; and he let the men go, and they departed. 5:25But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither. 5:26And he said unto him, Went not my heart with thee, when the man turned from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards and vineyards, and sheep and oxen, and men-servants and maid-servants? 5:27The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
2:1I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men; 2:2for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity. 2:3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 2:4who would have all men to be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth. 2:5For there is one God, one mediator also between God and men, himself man, Christ Jesus, 2:6who gave himself a ransom for all; the testimony to be borne in its own times; 2:7whereunto I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth, I lie not), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 2:8I desire therefore that the men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and disputing. 2:9In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment; 2:10but (which becometh women professing godliness) through good works. 2:11Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection. 2:12But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have dominion over a man, but to be in quietness. 2:13For Adam was first formed, then Eve; 2:14and Adam was not beguiled, but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression: 2:15but she shall be saved through her child-bearing, if they continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety.
9:1In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans, 9:2in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years whereof the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah the prophet, for the accomplishing of the desolations of Jerusalem, even seventy years. 9:3And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. 9:4And I prayed unto Jehovah my God, and made confession, and said, Oh, Lord, the great and dreadful God, who keepeth covenant and lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments, 9:5we have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from thy precepts and from thine ordinances; 9:6neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, that spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 9:7O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee. 9:8O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. 9:9To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have rebelled against him; 9:10neither have we obeyed the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. 9:11Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even turning aside, that they should not obey thy voice: therefore hath the curse been poured out upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God; for we have sinned against him. 9:12And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil; for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem. 9:13As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet have we not entreated the favor of Jehovah our God, that we should turn from our iniquities, and have discernment in thy truth. 9:14Therefore hath Jehovah watched over the evil, and brought it upon us; for Jehovah our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth, and we have not obeyed his voice. 9:15And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. 9:16O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, let thine anger and thy wrath, I pray thee, be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are round about us. 9:17Now therefore, O our God, hearken unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. 9:18O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousness, but for thy great mercies' sake. 9:19O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God, because thy city and thy people are called by thy name. 9:20And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God; 9:21yea, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. 9:22And he instructed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee wisdom and understanding. 9:23At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment went forth, and I am come to tell thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision. 9:24Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. 9:25Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: it shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troublous times. 9:26And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined. 9:27And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall wrath be poured out upon the desolate.
117:1O praise Jehovah, all ye nations;
Laud him, all ye peoples.
117:2For his lovingkindness is great toward us;
And the truth of Jehovah endureth for ever.
*Praise ye Jehovah.
118:1Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good;
For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.
118:2Let Israel now say,
That his lovingkindness endureth for ever.
118:3Let the house of Aaron now say,
That his lovingkindness endureth for ever.
118:4Let them now that fear Jehovah say,
That his lovingkindness endureth for ever.
118:5Out of my distress I called upon *Jehovah:
*Jehovah answered me and set me in a large place.
118:6Jehovah is on my side; I will not fear:
What can man do unto me?
118:7Jehovah is on my side among them that help me:
Therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
118:8It is better to take refuge in Jehovah
Than to put confidence in man.
118:9It is better to take refuge in Jehovah
Than to put confidence in princes.
118:10All nations compassed me about:
In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.
118:11They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about:
In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.
118:12They compassed me about like bees;
They are quenched as the fire of thorns:
In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.
118:13Thou didst thrust sore at me that I might fall;
But Jehovah helped me.
118:14Jehovah is my strength and song;
And he is become my salvation.
118:15The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous:
The right hand of Jehovah doeth valiantly.
118:16The right hand of Jehovah is exalted:
The right hand of Jehovah doeth valiantly.
118:17I shall not die, but live,
And declare the works of Jehovah.
118:18 *Jehovah hath chastened me sore;
But he hath not given me over unto death.
118:19Open to me the gates of righteousness:
I will enter into them, I will give thanks unto Jehovah.
118:20This is the gate of Jehovah;
The righteous shall enter into it.
118:21I will give thanks unto thee; for thou hast answered me,
And art become my salvation.
118:22The stone which the builders rejected Is become the head of the corner.
118:23This is *Jehovah's doing;
It is marvellous in our eyes.
118:24This is the day which Jehovah hath made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
118:25Save now, we beseech thee, O Jehovah:
O Jehovah, we beseech thee, send now prosperity.
118:26Blessed be he that *cometh in the name of Jehovah:
We have blessed you out of the house of Jehovah.
118:27Jehovah is God, and he hath given us light:
Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
118:28Thou art my God, and I will give thanks unto thee:
Thou art my God, I will exalt thee.
118:29Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good;
For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.
