2 Kings

8:1Now Elisha had spoken unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for Jehovah hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years. 8:2And the woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God; and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years. 8:3And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land. 8:4Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done. 8:5And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him that was dead, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life. 8:6And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

8:7And Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither. 8:8And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thy hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Jehovah by him, saying, Shall I recover of this sickness? 8:9So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Benhadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this sickness? 8:10And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou shalt surely recover; howbeit Jehovah hath showed me that he shall surely die. 8:11And he settled his countenance stedfastly upon him, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept. 8:12And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strongholds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child. 8:13And Hazael said, But what is thy servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, Jehovah hath showed me that thou shalt be king over Syria. 8:14Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou wouldest surely recover. 8:15And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took the coverlet, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

8:16And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign. 8:17Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 8:18And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife; and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah. 8:19Howbeit Jehovah would not destroy Judah, for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give unto him a lamp for his children alway.

8:20In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves. 8:21Then Joram passed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites that compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents. 8:22So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then did Libnah revolt at the same time. 8:23And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 8:24And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

8:25In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign. 8:26Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel. 8:27And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, as did the house of Ahab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab. 8:28And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead: and the Syrians wounded Joram. 8:29And king Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

1 Timothy

5:1Rebuke not an elder, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brethren: 5:2the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity. 5:3Honor widows that are widows indeed. 5:4But if any widow hath children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to requite their parents: for this is acceptable in the sight of God. 5:5Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, hath her hope set on God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. 5:6But she that giveth herself to pleasure is dead while she liveth. 5:7These things also command, that they may be without reproach. 5:8But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. 5:9Let none be enrolled as a widow under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, 5:10well reported of for good works; if she hath brought up children, if she hath used hospitality to strangers, if she hath washed the saints' feet, if she hath relieved the afflicted, if she hath diligently followed every good work. 5:11But younger widows refuse: for when they have waxed wanton against Christ, they desire to marry; 5:12having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge. 5:13And withal they learn also to be idle, going about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. 5:14I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, give no occasion to the adversary for reviling: 5:15for already some are turned aside after Satan. 5:16If any woman that believeth hath widows, let her relieve them, and let not the church be burdened; that it mat relieve them that are widows indeed. 5:17Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching. 5:18For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. And, The laborer is worthy of his hire. 5:19Against an elder receive not an accusation, except at the mouth of two or three witnesses. 5:20Them that sin reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear. 5:21I charge thee in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality. 5:22Lay hands hastily on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure. 5:23Be no longer a drinker of water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. 5:24Some men's sins are evident, going before unto judgment; and some men also they follow after. 5:25In like manner also there are good works that are evident; and such as are otherwise cannot be hid.

Daniel

12:1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who standeth for the children of thy people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 12:2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 12:3And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. 12:4But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. 12:5Then I, Daniel, looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on the brink of the river on this side, and the other on the brink of the river on that side. 12:6And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? 12:7And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. 12:8And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my lord, what shall be the issue of these things? 12:9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end. 12:10Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but they that are wise shall understand. 12:11And from the time that the continual burnt-offering shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand and two hundred and ninety days. 12:12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 12:13But go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shalt rest, and shalt stand in thy lot, at the end of the days.

Psalms

ZAYIN.

 119:49Remember the word unto thy servant,

 Because thou hast made me to hope.

 119:50This is my comfort in my affliction;

 *For thy word hath quickened me.

 119:51The proud have had me greatly in derision:

 Yet have I not swerved from thy law.

 119:52I have remembered thine ordinances of old, O Jehovah,

 And have comforted myself.

 119:53 *Hot indignation hath taken hold upon me,

 Because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

 119:54Thy statutes have been my songs

 In the house of my pilgrimage.

 119:55I have remembered thy name, O Jehovah, in the night,

 And have observed thy law.

 119:56This I have had,

 *Because I have kept thy precepts.

HHETH.

 119:57 *Jehovah is my portion:

 I have said that I would observe thy words.

 119:58I entreated thy favor with my whole heart:

 Be merciful unto me according to thy word.

 119:59I thought on my ways,

 And turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

 119:60I made haste, and delayed not,

 To observe thy commandments.

 119:61The cords of the wicked have wrapped me round;

 But I have not forgotten thy law.

 119:62At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee

 Because of thy righteous ordinances.

 119:63I am a companion of all them that fear thee,

 And of them that observe thy precepts.

 119:64The earth, O Jehovah, is full of thy lovingkindness:

 Teach me thy statutes.

TETH.

 119:65Thou hast dealt well with thy servant,

 O Jehovah, according unto thy word.

 119:66Teach me good judgment and knowledge;

 For I have believed in thy commandments.

 119:67Before I was afflicted I went astray;

 But now I observe thy word.

 119:68Thou art good, and doest good;

 Teach me thy statutes.

 119:69The proud have forged a lie against me:

 With my whole heart will I keep thy precepts.

 119:70Their heart is as fat as grease;

 But I delight in thy law.

 119:71It is good for me that I have been afflicted;

 That I may learn thy statutes.

 119:72The law of thy mouth is better unto me

 Than thousands of gold and silver.
