9:1And Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this vial of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead. 9:2And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber. 9:3Then take the vial of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith Jehovah, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not. 9:4So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramoth-gilead. 9:5And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of us all? And he said, To thee, O captain. 9:6And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of Jehovah, even over Israel. 9:7And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Jehovah, at the hand of Jezebel. 9:8For the whole house of Ahab shall perish; and I will cut off from Ahab every man-child, and him that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel. 9:9And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah. 9:10And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.
9:11Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man and what his talk was. 9:12And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, I have anointed thee king over Israel. 9:13Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, Jehu is king.
9:14So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram was keeping Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria; 9:15but king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If this be your mind, then let none escape and go forth out of the city, to go to tell it in Jezreel. 9:16So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.
9:17Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take a horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace? 9:18So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not back. 9:19Then he sent out a second on horseback, who came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. 9:20And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not back: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.
9:21And Joram said, Make ready. And they made ready his chariot. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu, and found him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite. 9:22And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many? 9:23And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah. 9:24And Jehu drew his bow with his full strength, and smote Joram between his arms; and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot. 9:25Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, Jehovah laid this burden upon him: 9:26Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith Jehovah; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith Jehovah. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of Jehovah.
9:27But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden-house. And Jehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot: and they smote him at the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there. 9:28And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.
9:29And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah. 9:30And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her eyes, and attired her head, and looked out at the window. 9:31And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Is it peace, thou Zimri, thy master's murderer? 9:32And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs. 9:33And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down; and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trod her under foot. 9:34And when he was come in, he did eat and drink; and he said, See now to this cursed woman, and bury her; for she is a king's daughter. 9:35And they went to bury her; but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. 9:36Wherefore they came back, and told him. And he said, This is the word of Jehovah, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel; 9:37and the body of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
6:1Let as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed. 6:2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but let them serve them the rather, because they that partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. These things teach and exhort. 6:3If any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 6:4he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 6:5wranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain. 6:6But godliness with contentment is great gain: 6:7for we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out; 6:8but having food and covering we shall be therewith content. 6:9But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition. 6:10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 6:11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 6:12Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. 6:13I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession; 6:14that thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 6:15which in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 6:16who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen. 6:17Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 6:18that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 6:19laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed. 6:20O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called; 6:21which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.
1:1The word of Jehovah that came unto Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel. 1:2When Jehovah spake at the first by Hosea, Jehovah said unto Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredom and children of whoredom; for the land doth commit great whoredom, departing from Jehovah. 1:3So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived, and bare him a son. 1:4And Jehovah said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease. 1:5And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel. 1:6And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And Jehovah said unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah; for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel, that I should in any wise pardon them. 1:7But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by Jehovah their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen. 1:8Now when she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son. 1:9And Jehovah said, Call his name Lo-ammi; for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God. 1:10Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass that, in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God. 1:11And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint themselves one head, and shall go up from the land; for great shall be the day of Jezreel.
YODH.
119:73Thy hands have made me and *fashioned me:
Give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
119:74They that fear thee shall see me and be glad,
Because I have hoped in thy word.
119:75I know, O Jehovah, that thy judgments are righteous,
And that in faithfulness thou hast afflicted me.
119:76Let, I pray thee, thy lovingkindness be for my comfort,
According to thy word unto thy servant.
119:77Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live;
For thy law is my delight.
119:78Let the proud be put to shame;
For they have overthrown me *wrongfully:
But I will meditate on thy precepts.
119:79Let those that fear thee turn unto me;
*And they shall know thy testimonies.
119:80Let my heart be perfect in thy statutes,
That I be not put to shame.
KAPH.
119:81My soul fainteth for thy salvation;
But I hope in thy word.
119:82Mine eyes fail for thy word,
While I say, When wilt thou comfort me?
119:83For I am become like a wine-skin in the smoke;
Yet do I not forget thy statutes.
119:84How many are the days of thy servant?
When wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?
119:85The proud have digged pits for me,
Who are not according to thy law.
119:86All thy commandments are faithful:
They persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.
119:87They had almost consumed me upon earth;
But I forsook not thy precepts.
119:88Quicken me after thy lovingkindness;
So shall I observe the testimony of thy mouth.
LAMEDH.
119:89For ever, O Jehovah,
Thy word is settled in heaven.
119:90Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:
Thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
119:91 *They abide this day according to thine ordinances;
For all things are thy servants.
119:92Unless thy law had been my delight,
I should then have perished in mine affliction.
119:93I will never forget thy precepts;
For with them thou hast quickened me.
119:94I am thine, save me;
For I have sought thy precepts.
119:95The wicked have waited for me, to destroy me;
But I will consider thy testimonies.
119:96I have seen an end of all perfection;
But thy commandment is exceeding broad.
