13:1In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years. 13:2And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom. 13:3And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, continually. 13:4And Jehoahaz besought Jehovah, and Jehovah hearkened unto him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how that the king of Syria oppressed them. 13:5(And Jehovah gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as beforetime. 13:6Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, wherewith he made Israel to sin, but walked therein: and there remained the Asherah also in Samaria.) 13:7For he left not to Jehoahaz of the people save fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria destroyed them, and made them like the dust in threshing. 13:8Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 13:9And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.
13:10In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years. 13:11And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin; but he walked therein. 13:12Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 13:13And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
13:14Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died: and Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over him, and said, My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof! 13:15And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows; and he took unto him bow and arrows. 13:16And he said to the king of Israel, Put thy hand upon the bow; and he put his hand upon it. And Elisha laid his hands upon the king's hands. 13:17And he said, Open the window eastward; and he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot; and he shot. And he said, Jehovah's arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory over Syria; for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them. 13:18And he said, Take the arrows; and he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground; and he smote thrice, and stayed. 13:19And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times: then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it, whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
13:20And Elisha died, and they buried him. Now the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year. 13:21And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
13:22And Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz. 13:23But Jehovah was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet. 13:24And Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead. 13:25And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash smite him, and recovered the cities of Israel.
3:1But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come. 3:2For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3:3without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, 3:4traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; 3:5holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power therefore. From these also turn away. 3:6For of these are they that creep into houses, and take captive silly women laden with sins, led away by divers lusts, 3:7ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 3:8And even as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth. Men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith. 3:9But they shall proceed no further. For their folly shall be evident unto all men, as theirs also came to be. 3:10But thou didst follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience, 3:11persecutions, sufferings. What things befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 3:12Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 3:13But evil men and impostors shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 3:14But abide thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. 3:15And that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 3:16Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. 3:17That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.
5:1Hear this, O ye priests, and hearken, O house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king; for unto you pertaineth the judgment; for ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor. 5:2And the revolters are gone deep in making slaughter; but I am a rebuker of them all. 5:3I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, O Ephraim, thou hast played the harlot, Israel is defiled. 5:4Their doings will not suffer them to turn unto their God; for the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not Jehovah. 5:5And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in their iniquity; Judah also shall stumble with them. 5:6They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find him: he hath withdrawn himself from them. 5:7They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have borne strange children: now shall the new moon devour them with their fields. 5:8Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: sound an alarm at Beth-aven; behind thee, O Benjamin. 5:9Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be. 5:10The princes of Judah are like them that remove the landmark: I will pour out my wrath upon them like water. 5:11Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment; because he was content to walk after man's command. 5:12Therefore am I unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness. 5:13When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound. 5:14For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will carry off, and there shall be none to deliver. 5:15I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me earnestly.
6:1Come, and let us return unto Jehovah; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 6:2After two days will he revive us: on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live before him. 6:3And let us know, let us follow on to know Jehovah: his going forth is sure as the morning; and he will come unto us as the rain, as the latter rain that watereth the earth. 6:4O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the dew that goeth early away. 6:5Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth. 6:6For I desire goodness, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt-offerings. 6:7But they like Adam have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me. 6:8Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity; it is stained with blood. 6:9And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way toward Shechem; yea, they have committed lewdness. 6:10In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing: there whoredom is found in Ephraim, Israel is defiled. 6:11Also, O Judah, there is a harvest appointed for thee, when I bring back the captivity of my people.
QOPH.
119:145I have called with my whole heart; answer me, O Jehovah:
I will keep thy statutes.
119:146I have called unto thee; save me,
And I shall observe thy testimonies.
119:147I anticipated the dawning of the morning, and cried:
I hoped in thy words.
119:148Mine eyes anticipated the night-watches,
That I might meditate on thy word.
119:149Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness:
Quicken me, O Jehovah, *according to thine ordinances.
119:150They draw nigh *that follow after wickedness;
They are far from thy law.
119:151Thou art nigh, O Jehovah;
And all thy commandments are truth.
119:152Of old have I known from thy testimonies,
That thou hast founded them for ever.
RESH.
119:153Consider mine affliction, and deliver me;
For I do not forget thy law.
119:154Plead thou my cause, and redeem me:
Quicken me according to thy word.
119:155Salvation is far from the wicked;
For they seek not thy statutes.
119:156Great are thy tender mercies, O Jehovah:
Quicken me according to thine ordinances.
119:157Many are my persecutors and mine adversaries;
Yet have I not swerved from thy testimonies.
119:158I beheld the treacherous, and *was grieved,
Because they observe not thy word.
119:159Consider how I love thy precepts:
Quicken me, O Jehovah, according to thy lovingkindness.
119:160The sum of thy word is truth;
And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever.
SHIN.
119:161Princes have persecuted me without a cause;
But my heart standeth in awe of thy words.
119:162I rejoice at thy word,
As one that findeth great spoil.
119:163I hate and abhor falsehood;
But thy law do I love.
119:164Seven times a day do I praise thee,
Because of thy righteous ordinances.
119:165Great peace have they that love thy law;
And they have no occasion of stumbling.
119:166I have hoped for thy salvation, O Jehovah,
And have done thy commandments.
119:167My soul hath observed thy testimonies;
And I love them exceedingly.
119:168I have observed thy precepts and thy testimonies;
For all my ways are before thee.
TAV.
119:169Let my cry come near before thee, O Jehovah:
Give me understanding according to thy word.
119:170Let my supplication come before thee:
Deliver me according to thy word.
119:171Let my lips utter praise;
For thou teachest me thy statutes.
119:172Let my tongue sing of thy word;
For all thy commandments are righteousness.
119:173Let thy hand be ready to help me;
For I have chosen thy precepts.
119:174I have longed for thy salvation, O Jehovah;
And thy law is my delight.
119:175Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee;
And let thine ordinances help me.
119:176I have gone astray like a lost sheep;
Seek thy servant;
For I do not forget thy commandments.
