31:1Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa. 31:2And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul. 31:3And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was greatly distressed by reason of the archers. 31:4Then said Saul to his armorbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armorbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell upon it. 31:5And when his armorbearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell upon his sword, and died with him. 31:6So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armorbearer, and all his men, that same day together.
31:7And when the men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that were beyond the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them. 31:8And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa. 31:9And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry the tidings unto the house of their idols, and to the people. 31:10And they put his armor in the house of the Ashtaroth; and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan. 31:11And when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard concerning him that which the Philistines had done to Saul, 31:12all the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan; and they came to Jabesh, and burnt them there. 31:13And they took their bones, and buried them under the tamarisk-tree in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
11:1Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ. 11:2Now I praise you that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you. 11:3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 11:4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoreth his head. 11:5But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoreth her head; for it is one and the same thing as if she were shaven. 11:6For if a woman is not veiled, let her also be shorn: but if it is a shame to a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be veiled. 11:7For a man indeed ought not to have his head veiled, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 11:8For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man: 11:9for neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man: 11:10for this cause ought the woman to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels. 11:11Nevertheless, neither is the woman without the man, nor the man without the woman, in the Lord. 11:12For as the woman is of the man, so is the man also by the woman; but all things are of God. 11:13Judge ye in yourselves: is it seemly that a woman pray unto God unveiled? 11:14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a dishonor to him? 11:15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 11:16But if any man seemeth to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. 11:17But in giving you this charge, I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better but for the worse. 11:18For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that divisions exist among you; and I partly believe it. 11:19For there must be also factions among you, that they that are approved may be made manifest among you. 11:20When therefore ye assemble yourselves together, it is not possible to eat the Lord's supper: 11:21for in your eating each one taketh before other his own supper; and one is hungry, and another is drunken. 11:22What, have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and put them to shame that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you? In this I praise you not. 11:23For I received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which he was betrayed took bread; 11:24and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, This is my body, which is for you: this do in remembrance of me. 11:25In like manner also the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood: this do, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 11:26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink the cup, ye proclaim the Lord's death till he come. 11:27Wherefore whosoever shall eat the bread or drink the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 11:28But let a man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup. 11:29For he that eateth and drinketh, eateth and drinketh judgment unto himself, if he discern not the body. 11:30For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep. 11:31But if we discerned ourselves, we should not be judged. 11:32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. 11:33Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, wait one for another. 11:34If any man is hungry, let him eat at home; that your coming together be not unto judgment. And the rest will I set in order whensoever I come.
9:1Then he cried in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause ye them that have charge over the city to draw near, every man with his destroying weapon in his hand. 9:2And behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which lieth toward the north, every man with his slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man in the midst of them clothed in linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side. And they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar. 9:3And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon it was, to the threshold of the house: and he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writer's inkhorn by his side. 9:4And Jehovah said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done in the midst thereof. 9:5And to the others he said in my hearing, Go ye through the city after him, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity; 9:6slay utterly the old man, the young man and the virgin, and little children and women; but come not near any man upon whom is the mark: and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the old men that were before the house. 9:7And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and smote in the city. 9:8And it came to pass, while they were smiting, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord Jehovah! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy wrath upon Jerusalem? 9:9Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of wrestling of judgment: for they say, Jehovah hath forsaken the land, and Jehovah seeth not. 9:10And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will bring their way upon their head. 9:11And behold, the man clothed in linen, who had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me.

48:1Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised,
In the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
48:2Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth,
Is mount Zion, on the sides of the north,
The city of the great King.
48:3God hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.
48:4For, lo, the kings assembled themselves,
They passed by together.
48:5They saw it, then were they amazed;
They were dismayed, they hasted away.
48:6Trembling took hold of them there,
Pain, as of a woman in travail.
48:7With the east wind
Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.
48:8As we have heard, so have we seen
In the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God:
God will establish it for ever.

In the midst of thy temple.

48:14For this God is our God for ever and ever:
He will be our guide even unto death.
