21:1And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of Jehovah. And Jehovah said, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put to death the Gibeonites. 21:2And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah); 21:3and David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of Jehovah? 21:4And the Gibeonites said unto him, It is no matter of silver or gold between us and Saul, or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you. 21:5And they said unto the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the borders of Israel, 21:6let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto Jehovah in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Jehovah. And the king said, I will give them.
21:7But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of Jehovah's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul. 21:8But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she bare to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite: 21:9And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the mountain before Jehovah, and they fell all seven together. And they were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, at the beginning of barley harvest.
21:10And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water was poured upon them from heaven; and she suffered neither the birds of the heavens to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night. 21:11And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
21:12And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, who had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, in the day that the Philistines slew Saul in Gilboa; 21:13and he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son: and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged. 21:14And they buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was entreated for the land.
21:15And the Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. And David waxed faint; 21:16and Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David. 21:17But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succored him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the lamp of Israel.
21:18And it came to pass after this, that there was again war with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbecai the Hushathite slew Saph, who was of the sons of the giant. 21:19And there was again war with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim the Beth-lehemite slew Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. 21:20And there was again war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant. 21:21And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David's brother, slew him. 21:22These four were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
1:1Paul, an apostle (not from men, neither through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead), 1:2and all the brethren that are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: 1:3Grace to you and peace from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, 1:4who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil world, according to the will of our God and Father: 1:5to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen. 1:6I marvel that ye are so quickly removing from him that called you in the grace of Christ unto a different gospel; 1:7which is not another gospel only there are some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 1:8But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach unto you any gospel other than that which we preached unto you, let him be anathema. 1:9As we have said before, so say I now again, if any man preacheth unto you any gospel other than that which ye received, let him be anathema. 1:10For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? or am I striving to please men? if I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ. 1:11For I make known to you, brethren, as touching the gospel which was preached by me, that it is not after man. 1:12For neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ. 1:13For ye have heard of my manner of life in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and made havoc of it: 1:14and I advanced in the Jews' religion beyond many of mine own age among my countrymen, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. 1:15But when it was the good pleasure of God, who separated me, even from my mother's womb, and called me through his grace, 1:16to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles; straightway I conferred not with flesh and blood: 1:17neither went I up to Jerusalem to them that were apostles before me: but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned unto Damascus. 1:18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas, and tarried with him fifteen days. 1:19But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. 1:20Now touching the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. 1:21Then I came unto the regions of Syria and Cilicia. 1:22And I was still unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ: 1:23but they only heard say, He that once persecuted us now preacheth the faith of which he once made havoc; 1:24and they glorified God in me.
28:1The word of Jehovah came again unto me, saying, 28:2Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyre, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thy heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art man, and not God, though thou didst set thy heart as the heart of God;- 28:3behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that is hidden from thee; 28:4by thy wisdom and by thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures; 28:5by thy great wisdom and by thy traffic hast thou increased thy riches, and thy heart is lifted up because of thy riches;- 28:6therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast set thy heart as the heart of God, 28:7therefore, behold, I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. 28:8They shall bring thee down to the pit; and thou shalt die the death of them that are slain, in the heart of the seas. 28:9Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou art man, and not God, in the hand of him that woundeth thee. 28:10Thou shalt die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord Jehovah. 28:11Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 28:12Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. 28:13Thou wast in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, the topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was in thee; in the day that thou wast created they were prepared. 28:14Thou wast the anointed cherub that covereth: and I set thee, so that thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 28:15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till unrighteousness was found in thee. 28:16By the abundance of thy traffic they filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore have I cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God; and I have destroyed thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 28:17Thy heart was lifted up because of thy beauty; thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I have cast thee to the ground; I have laid thee before kings, that they may behold thee. 28:18By the multitude of thine iniquities, in the unrighteousness of thy traffic, thou hast profaned thy sanctuaries; therefore have I brought forth a fire from the midst of thee; it hath devoured thee, and I have turned thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. 28:19All they that know thee among the peoples shall be astonished at thee: thou art become a terror, and thou shalt nevermore have any being. 28:20And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 28:21Son of man, set thy face toward Sidon, and prophesy against it, 28:22and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, O Sidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee; and they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her. 28:23For I will send pestilence into her, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall fall in the midst of her, with the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am Jehovah. 28:24And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor a hurting thorn of any that are round about them, that did despite unto them; and they shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah. 28:25Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the nations, then shall they dwell in their own land which I gave to my servant Jacob. 28:26And they shall dwell securely therein; yea, they shall build houses, and plant vineyards, and shall dwell securely, when I have executed judgments upon all those that do them despite round about them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah their God.
For the Chief Musician; after the manner of Jeduthan. A Psalm of Asaph.
77:1I will cry unto God with my voice,
Even unto God with my voice; and he will give ear unto me.
77:2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord:
My hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not;
My soul refused to be comforted.
77:3I remember God, and am disquieted:
I complain, and my spirit is *overwhelmed.
Selah
77:4Thou holdest mine eyes watching:
I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
77:5I have considered the days of old,
The years of ancient times.
77:6I call to remembrance my song in the night:
I commune with mine own heart;
And my spirit maketh diligent search.
77:7Will the Lord cast off for ever?
And will he be favorable no more?
77:8Is his lovingkindness clean gone for ever?
Doth his promise fail for evermore?
77:9Hath God forgotten to be gracious?
Hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies?
Selah
77:10And I said, This is my infirmity;
But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.
77:11I will make mention of the deeds of *Jehovah;
For I will remember thy wonders of old.
77:12I will meditate also upon all thy work,
And muse on thy doings.
77:13Thy way, O God, is *in the sanctuary:
Who is a great god like unto God?
77:14Thou art the God that doest wonders:
Thou hast made known thy strength among the peoples.
77:15Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people,
The sons of Jacob and Joseph.
Selah
77:16The waters saw thee, O God;
The waters saw thee, they *were afraid:
The depths also trembled.
77:17The clouds poured out water;
The skies sent out a sound:
Thine arrows also went abroad.
77:18The voice of thy thunder was in the whirlwind;
The lightnings lightened the world:
The earth trembled and shook.
77:19Thy way was in the sea,
And thy paths in the great waters,
And thy footsteps were not known.
77:20Thou leddest thy people like a flock,
By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
