Search Results Page
The search results page appears as shown in the image below. The text underneath the image describes each numbered feature on the image.
- This line shows the filter(s) currently applied to the search. Clicking on one or more of the named filters will remove them, moving to a more general set of search results from a more specific set.
- This line indicates how many search results conform to the criteria that have been applied, and also tells you what portion of those results is being viewed on the screen.
- The search engine assigns a score to each result, assessing its relevance to the query that was applied. By default, search results are presented in decreasing order of this relevance score.
- The title of each search result is presented in this color. Clicking on the title will navigate to the message page for that result, allowing you to read the notes, hear the audio, view the video etc.
- If the result is contained in the audio recordings database (and is therefore quite likely to have an audio recording associated with it) the search result will have this loudspeaker icon next to it in the results list.
- Each search result will have a list of possible filters here. Click on one or more of these to narrow the search results to conform to the new filter(s) applied. You can remove the filters by clicking on the link that will be created at the position shown by number 1
- If the result is contained in the documents database (and is therefore a document entry such as a pdf file or Flash presentation) the search result will have this document icon next to it in the results list.
- Generally, the search engine will show you (in bold) the parts of the search result that conform to the filters and/or queries applied. In addition, a little of the context surrounding each piece of boldface text is shown to help you decide if it is a result of interest to you or not.
